Effective Project Management Methodologies
Project management involves the application of specific knowledge, skills, tools,
and techniques to deliver something of value to people. Successful execution
requires balancing project constraints, traditionally defined as scope, time, and
budget—collectively known as the triple constraint.
Historically, the Waterfall methodology dominated project management. This linear
framework requires completing each phase of a project sequentially before moving
to the next, making it highly effective for predictable environments like
manufacturing or construction.
In contrast, the software and technology sectors frequently utilize Agile frameworks.
Agile prioritizes iterative development, cross-functional collaboration, and rapid
adaptability. Rather than planning an entire lifecycle upfront, teams work in short
increments called sprints, allowing them to pivot quickly based on stakeholder
feedback and changing market requirements.
