Fiber to the Home (FTTH) – Complete Guide
What is FTTH?
Fiber to the Home (FTTH) is a telecommunications technology that delivers internet,
voice, and television services directly to homes using optical fiber cables instead of
copper cables.
FTTH is part of the broader family called Fiber to the X (FTTx).
FTTx Types
FTTH – Fiber reaches the customer's house.
FTTB – Fiber reaches a building.
FTTC – Fiber reaches the street cabinet.
FTTN – Fiber reaches a neighborhood node.
FTTH provides the highest performance because fiber runs all the way to the
subscriber's premises.
Benefits of FTTH
For Customers
Ultra-high internet speeds (100 Mbps to 10 Gbps+)
Low latency
Reliable connectivity
Better video streaming
Supports smart homes
Future-proof technology
For Operators
Lower maintenance costs
Higher customer satisfaction
Increased Average Revenue Per User (ARPU)
Scalable network expansion
Long infrastructure lifespan (20–30 years)
