Milestone #2 of the Challenge: Identify relevant activities.
At the end of this module, your team will submit a written report with the activity map that you will
follow to achieve your goals and sub-goals for the challenge.
Knowledge (K): At the end of the Module, you will be able to:
K1: Identify key activities to perform to meet goals and sub-goals
K2: Prepare a map with estimated time needed for each activity and dependencies among activities
Summary
This module provides the instructions to prepare the second documentation in your challenge. The
teams need to develop a activity map which covers the actions required for completing the challenge
together with the roles of each member and their responsibilities. This is uploaded in the platform
For the best learning process the learner is recommended to:
Read the instructions provided
Discuss with your team your plan of action
Search and select resources online, including Wikipedia, articles, online courses and other
material
Assign roles and responsibilities in your team to perform the work
Activity 2: Activity map development
For each of the guiding questions developed before, each team needs to list key activities to be
performed to meet the defined goals. Once the activities are listed, the team should identify which have
to happen before others can start and identify all the dependencies. A preliminary time plan has also to
be developed. Each team develops an activity map and document them in the challenge journey log.
In principle, the same report submitted for the first milestone can be expanded. The report should be
written in English and include the following sections:
Short description of all identified activities and how they are linked to the guiding questions
Gantt chart or other schematic diagram to visualize how the activities break down over time and
which are the dependencies
Role of each team member in each activity
You can use the following template:
3 Project plan
Here you describe the scope (your boundaries: break-down contents to be completed in order to
complete the project within the project deadline).
3.1 Break-down of activities
Here you break-down the project in a series of activities and tasks and identify how much time each
activity will take, who is responsible, who performs the work, and how you will ensure a proper
monitoring of the project progresses.
3.2 Time plan
Here you include a Gantt chart to visualize the activities and tasks described in the previous section,
including dependencies.
3.3 Identification of relevant resources
Here you include a map (visual or descriptive) of the resources you expect to use during the project to
achieve the results. These can include short courses or other educational material, articles, texbooks,
participation in seminars etc. Include also a budget table, where your currency is in term of man-hour,
or how much time each team member is expected to work on the project.
4 Previous work
Here you describe what previously has been done in the area of the project scope.
Summary, Conclusions, and main Take-Aways
This module provided a guide through the documentation of your progresses in the challenge. You
should have prepared a plan and a road map to visualize how to move from the guiding questions to the
problem solution.
This module will provide the instructions and the submission portal for Milestone #3 of the
Sustainable Energy Provision Challenge: Identify relevant resources.
At the end of this module, your team will submit a written report with the activity map that you will
follow to achieve your goals and sub-goals for the challenge. The instructors will then assign a report to
each team for peer review (i.e., your team will review the report of another team and make suggestions
for improvements).
Summary
This module provides the instructions to prepare the third documentation in your challenge. Each team
should identify relevant resources and materials key to addressing the Challenge, such as MOOCs,
courses, articles, etc. Any resource or activity that helps uncover the knowledge needed to answer the
Guiding Questions and to develop an innovative, insightful, and realistic Solution is valuable.
Activity 2: Resources map development
Each team should identify relevant resources and materials key to addressing the Challenge, such as
MOOCs, courses, articles, publicly available databases etc. Any resource or activity that helps uncover
the knowledge needed to answer the Guiding Questions and to develop an innovative, insightful, and
realistic Solution is valuable.
The report should be written in English and include a list of identified resources, with references to
articles and websites where relevant.
The use of the following template is recommended:
You delivered document will be assessed according to the following matrix:
sustainable energy provision challenge assesment rubric [Link]
Activity 4.1: Self-assessment on habits of mind
Here, you can assess your own habits of mind at the present time (1 is if you don't have that habit at all
and 5 if you master it). Your responses will be saved and you can access them again at any time. During
the CBL experience, you will be asked to assess yourself again and monitor your growth.

Summary
This module provides the instructions to prepare the first documentation in your challenge. This is the
first milestone to be able to complete the challenge. The sustainability analysis framework requires
scanning heterogeneous resources to understand the sustainability needs of the Energy Provision, the
state of the art, the potential ways to improve sustainability, and the road map to achieve them.
Activity 2: Sustainability analysis
Each team has to learn about the Sustainable Energy Provision in Zimbabwe , focusing on their theme of
[Link] can include themes like: energy consumption levels, water usage, waste management, guest
flow, logistics, etc. At this stage, you can refine the guiding questions that your team has identified
before.
You will also need to develop and include an activity map, which covers the actions required for
completing the challenge together with the roles of each member and their responsibilities.
First, identify which resources you need for this stage of research. For example, Industrial Visits; online
articles, statistics databases, other modules or lessons in Learnify, etc. The result of this work is a 5-8
pages report with a detailed Sustainability Analysis Framework.
The Framework will follow the following stages:
Engage:- The Ideation and Research stage takes place and the challenge is identified.
Investigate:- Contextualised learning experiences and conduct. Planning and Identification of
resources takes place.
Act:- Solution to the problem, implementation and evaluation. Activities are performed and
solutions tested and used to update the plan.
Disseminate : Here we get solution and disseminate the results
The report should be written in English and include the following sections:
Overview of Sustainable Energy Provision
Energy Consumption/ production patterns in the theme of choice
Research questions and goals
Proposed activity map

the second milestone to be able to complete the challenge. The sustainability analysis audit requires
interviewing energy suppliers personnel and analyzing local data to prepare a detailed energy audit
Activity 2: Sustainability analysis audit
Each team performs an onsite audit of a chosen energy supplier. After one week, each team will
develop and upload an audit report containing all their observations related to the subject of the
challenge.
The findings will be also presented for all teams and will be the starting point for discussions on the
facts of discovery in various energy providers, peer review, and brainstorming. After peer review and
discussion, each team can update their report as they move on with the challenge.
The result of this work is a 5-8 pages report with a detailed Sustainability Analysis Audit.
Your delivered document will be assessed according to the following matrix:

Summary
This module provides the instructions to prepare the final documentation in your challenge. Each team
establishes a set of measurable objectives (goals) integrated in a strategy to improve the sustainability
of the energy supplier alongside with a business plan (based on the canvas model) to support their
proposals. The result is a detailed Energy Supplier Sustainability Strategy.
Their proposals will be then presented to the main stakeholders (energy suppliers, business managers,
etc) and opportunities to implement the measures suggested in their report will be discussed.

Activity 3: Reflection report
To reflect on our experiences is vital to the learning process. Reflection means to critically assess how
we can improve on a certain task or performance.
The reflection report should include your reflections both as individuals and as a team on the challenge
process. Examples of what can be included are: how much the work deviated from the plan and why,
what worked well, where you need to improve for future projects and challenges.
You can use the following template, the report should be written in English and be approximately 10
pages long (excluded cover page. page, table of content, and appendices):
