Who is a consumers

Any individual who purchase products or services for his personal use not for
manufacturing or resale Is called a consumer.
A consumer Is one who is the decision maker whather or not to buy an item at the
store, or someone who is influenced by advertisement and marketting . Everytime
someone goes to a store and buys a
shirt , toy ,beverage or anything else , they make a decision as a consumer.
Consumer refers to any person
who purchase some good for a
consideration that has been either
bbpaid or promised to pay or party

of consumer or a group of consumer by the the seller for their own

quality good or any other misappropriation.

1. Hugh price: Traders can change a prise higher than the price
prevailing in the market because of the ignorance and history of the
customer.
2. Sub standard: Some traders sell substandard quality products to

quality of their products mainly through advertisement.

about the products.

Consumers protection act in India in 1986 would encourage consumers
to stand up for their rights and lead to an overwhelming number of
disputes in consumer courts.
Although an consumer movement has yet to get going in India,
existance of the act his stimulated the creation of many consumer
organisation across the country.
Consumer protection Act , 1986
The Consumer protection Act ,1986 ( copra )was an act of the
parliament of India in enacted in 1986 to protect the interests of
consumer in India . It was replaced by the consumer protection act
,2019 it was made for the establishment of consumer council and other
authorities for the settlement of consumers grievance and matter
connect with it.

Every year 24 December is observed as national
consumer day with a specific theme in India. On this day
the consumer protection act, 1984 has received the

referred to as ‘right to be protected against marketing of goods and
services which are are hazardous to life and property’ . It is applicable
to specific areas like healthcare, pharmaceuticals and food processing,

Right to seek redressal is define are the right to seek compensation due
to damage caused by unfair trade practice and explotation. The
compensation awarded depends on the degree of damage. Consumers

being cheated and consumer exploited by the producers. Under the
consumer protection act 1986 , three - tier judicial system has been
formed.
Consumers can invoke their right to redressal and right to represent.

We may give the example of the person who is dissatisfied with service

provided by se MTNL , BSNL or Airtel and threerefer file a case at the consumer court.

damage caused by unfair trade practices and exploitation.
