Geotechnical parameters related to the subsurface materials, which are important for foundation and earthwork

design, were derived from the evaluation of engineering properties obtained through drilling records, field
tests (including SPT), and laboratory analysis of the borehole samples. The values for parameters such as the
angle of internal friction and unit weight, presented in Table-3, are consistent with project specifications,
published literature, and our experience with similar projects.

6 GROUND WATER
During the exploration, no evidence of a groundwater table was found. It is important to note that the
groundwater level could fluctuate by approximately +/- 0.8 to 1 meter due to factors such as rainfall, drainage,
irrigation, and tidal effects. The project specifications and construction planning should take these potential
variations into account and include recommendations for dewatering if necessary.

7 LABORATORY TESTING
All samples collected from the boreholes were carefully stored in moisture-resistant sealed bags and sent to
our GSL laboratory for additional visual examination and testing in accordance with ASTM standards. The
chosen soil samples underwent laboratory testing for the analyses listed in Table 8-1.

Table 8-1: The details of laboratory tests

Sr. No. Type of Test Test Method

1 Soil Classification ASTM D-2487
2 Particle Size Analysis ASTM D-6913
3 Moisture Content ASTM D-2216
4 Specific Gravity ASTM D-854
5 Atterberg Limit ASTM D-4318
6 Chemical Analysis BS 1377 Part 3
7 Uniaxial Compressive Strength ASTM D-7012

The laboratory test results are provided in Appendix-IV. Additionally, our experienced engineers conducted
visual identification and classification of the samples both in the field and in the laboratory. The final borehole
logs are our interpretation of the field logs, incorporating insights gained from laboratory testing. The
stratification boundaries shown on the borehole logs were determined based on observations made during the
exploration, evaluation of the retrieved samples, and comparisons of similar engineering properties. These
boundary locations are approximate, and transitions between soil types may be gradual rather than
sharply defined.
