**Community Guidelines**

- To ensure the community stays protected. They set what's allowed and what not allowed on YouTube. Apply to all type

→ Don't harass others or post ultra violent videos

→ Don't post bunch of repetitive comments

If you violate these guidelines you'll first receive a warning — it will limit your access to some features.

If you get three community guideline strikes in a 90-day period your account may be terminated.

**Copyright Law**

In order to upload videos, all creators have to follow local copyright laws.

**Copyright**

A legal right that says you can't use someone else's original work in your videos without their video's permission.

If copyright owner sends YouTube a valid legal complaint known as a take down notice —
Content gets taken down and you receive a copyright strike.

**3 Ways to Resolve**

- You can wait 90 days for it to expire

- You can contact the person who took video down and ask them to retract complaint
- Or submit a counter notification if you feel video was taken down due to a mistake or misidentification

**Content ID**

- An automated system that lets rights holders find their work when it's being used by others on YouTube and claim it.

Once it's claimed they can choose to track it, monetize it or block it.

Content ID claims on videos do not result in copyright strikes and don't affect your channel's access to features.

There's tool to resolve Content ID claims like trimming out the claimed content.

Find these tools and see any active copyright strikes or Content ID claims in YouTube Studio.

**Note —** There are some regional exceptions that allow you to include someone else's work.
