ECOSYSTEM AND ITS TYPES


1. Introduction
An ecosystem is a community of living organisms (plants, animals, and microorganisms)
interacting with each other and their non-living environment like air, water, and soil.
Ecosystems help maintain balance in nature.
2. Components of Ecosystem
1. Biotic Components (Living): Plants, animals, humans, microorganisms.
2. Abiotic Components (Non-living): Air, water, sunlight, soil, temperature.
3. Types of Ecosystem
Ecosystems are mainly divided into two types:

A. Natural Ecosystem
- Forest Ecosystem
- Grassland Ecosystem
- Desert Ecosystem
- Aquatic Ecosystem (pond, river, ocean)

B. Artificial Ecosystem
- Garden
- Aquarium
- Crop fields
4. Importance of Ecosystem
• Maintains ecological balance
• Provides food and shelter
• Helps in nutrient cycling
• Supports biodiversity
• Regulates climate
5. Conclusion
Ecosystems are very important for the survival of all living organisms. We must protect and
conserve ecosystems to maintain balance in nature.
