Artificial Intelligence in Education: Its Influence on The
Academic Performance of Grade 8 Students
Introduction
Background of the Study: Technology is continuously developing, and it has greatly
influenced the field of education. One of the modern technologies used in schools today is
Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI refers to computer systems that can perform tasks that
usually require human intelligence, such as learning, analyzing information, and giving
feedback. In education, AI is used in learning platforms, educational apps, and automated
assessment tools. Artificial Intelligence in Education helps students learn in a more
personalized way. It can adjust lessons based on a student’s performance and provide
immediate feedback. This may help improve understanding and academic performance.
Academic performance, which is measured through grades and test scores, is very
important for Grade 8 students because this level prepares them for higher and more
challenging subjects. Therefore, it is important to study how AI affects students’ academic
performance.
Statement of the Problem
Some students use AI (chatgpt and other artificial intelligence apps) some students use AI
to some good use, but some of them used it for cheating and some other bad used, and
using AI for cheating doesn't improve their academic performance, because it only helped
them answer the questions they want but doesn't actually learn anything about it, and yes
using AI helps you to pass your Quiz and exam but you will never learn anything and it can
affect your study and struggle to understand anything
Objectives of the Study:
1. To determine the level of AI usage among Grade 8 students.
2. To examine the influence of AI on students’ academic performance.
3. To identify the advantages and challenges of using AI in learning.

Significance of the Study:
This study will benefit students, teachers, and school administrators. Students may better
understand how AI can help improve their learning. Teachers can use the findings to
improve their teaching strategies. School administrators may use the results as a guide in
deciding whether to integrate AI tools in the classroom.
Scope and Limitations:
The study will only include selected Grade 8 students from Malacañang National High
School. Therefore, the results may not represent all Grade 8 students in other schools. The
findings will be limited to the data gathered from the respondents and the information they
provide.
Review of Related Literature
Several studies have discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and its
effect on students’ academic performance. According to Holmes, Bialik, and Fadel (2019),
Artificial Intelligence can help improve learning by providing personalized instruction and
immediate feedback to students. They explained that AI systems can adjust lessons based
on students’ needs and learning pace. However, some researchers also mentioned possible
challenges. According to Luckin et al. (2016), the effectiveness of AI in education depends
on proper guidance from teachers. Without supervision, students may become too
dependent on technology, which may affect their independent learning skills.
Research Methodology
Research Design:
The study will use a quantitative research design to determine the influence of Artificial
Intelligence on the academic performance of Grade 8 students.
Data Collection Methods:
1. Quantitative Data: A survey questionnaire will be distributed to Grade 8 students to
determine how often they use AI tools for learning. Their academic performance
will be measured through their grades.
Data Analysis Procedure: The collected data will be analyzed using simple statistical
methods, such as percentage and average, to identify the relationship between AI usage
and academic performance.

Expected Outcomes
The study is expected to determine whether the use of Artificial Intelligence has a positive
or negative influence on the academic performance of Grade 8 students. It may also identify
the benefits and possible challenges of using AI in education.
