★ The AVERAGE Function in Excel is a powerful tool for calculating the
average of a range of numeric values.
★ It helps you find the central tendency of a dataset by providing the
arithmetic mean.
★ Average|Mean = (sum of all values) ➗ (total number of values)
Using the AVERAGE Function in Excel
Basic AVERAGE Function:
★ Syntax: ‘=AVERAGE(number1, [number2], ...)’.
★ Example: To find the average of values in cells A1, C1 & E1,enter ‘=AVERAGE (A1,C1,E1)’

Calculating the Average in a Range:
★ Select the cell where you want the average to appear.
★ Type =AVERAGE( and select the range of cells you want to analyze.
★ Close the parentheses and press Enter.

★ Select the cell below or to the right of the range you want to analyze.
★ On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click the arrow next to AutoSum Button,
click ‘Average’.
