Installation
It is highly recommended that you just open the folder as a new vault to ensure the functionality is there and working. If you want
to port the content into an existing vault, that’s fine, but personally I’d open the SRD vault and drag stuff over once it’s open and
you know what plugins/settings I’ve got set up in the vault.
Most troubleshooting can be found in the Introduction folder once opened, so I won’t worry about adding much of that here. The
only thing I’ll note here in that regard is make sure you are opening from the correct folder.
When I downloaded the vault on my laptop with a fresh install of Obsidian so there weren’t any loose files about other vaults
possibly floating around and extracted the zip, Windows put it in this folder with a bunch of numbers and letters after “Rules.”
This is NOT the folder you want to open as the vault otherwise it won’t ask for plugin permissions. You’ll want to open that folder
and pull the folder that stops after the “Rules” as the folder that you open as a vault. I didn’t have this problem with WinRAR on
my PC, so this might just be a side effect of the Windows 11 unzipper that comes with the OS as that is what I used to extract it on
my laptop.
The quickest way to test is to open the folder once you’ve extracted it. If it has a “D&D 5e 2024 Rules” folder inside of it, that
subfolder is the one you want to open as a new vault. If you open the folder and it has 00) Introduction, 01) Players, etc. then
you’re good to open the main folder as a vault in that case.
Obsidian keeps vaults pretty separate and there are few universal things, but for the most part plugins, plugin settings, etc. are
vault specific and come paired with the .obsidian folder of the vault.
You can delete this file from the vault, I just have it in this folder as a “Hey! Listen!” to make sure people don’t have to open the
vault before seeing this information.
If your stat blocks look like this it just means they’re not finished yet. Check the Aboleth to ensure plugins are
working correctly as that is one that’s basically done outside of the minor backlinking passover I probably
need to do. If the Aboleth looks right in Reading Mode then your plugins are good to go!
