A Pakistani boy lives in Paris. He loves a French girl. She lives right next door. Now he wants to tell his very
traditional, very loud, very enthusiastic Pakistani family about her. This will be very difficult. This will be very funny.
And if we are lucky — this will also teach us something beautiful.

◻ SCENE 1 — THE PHONE CALL

( Ahmad is in his room, pacing nervously. Phone pressed to his ear. Sweating. )

Sophie: Hi Ahmad! I have told my parents about us. What about you?
French: Salut Ahmad !
Subtitle: "Hi Ahmad! I told my parents about us. And you?"

Subtitle: "Hi Sophie... okay... I'm going to talk to them."

( Ahmad stares at the wall for thirty full seconds. Then walks toward the living room — like a man walking to his own
trial. )

◻ SCENE 2 — AHMAD'S HOME | PARIS APARTMENT |

EVENING

( A warm Punjabi home in the middle of Paris. Eiffel Tower painting on one wall. Framed Quranic verse on another.
The smell of daal chawal fills the apartment. Naseema has cooked enough to feed the entire arrondissement. Everyone
half-unconscious from overeating. )

( Abu reads newspaper. Dado does tasbeeh. Chachu picks his teeth. Chachi watches Chachu with visible disgust. Bilal
scrolls his phone. Zara does skincare. Everyone in their own world. )

( Ahmad walks in. Stands in the middle of the room. Clears his throat. Nobody looks up. )

Ahmad: ( quietly ) Ahem.

Subtitle: "( quietly ) Ahem."

( Nothing. Dado's tasbeeh clicks. Chachu picks. Bilal scrolls. )

Ahmad: ( louder ) AHEM! AHEM!!

Subtitle: "( louder ) AHEM! AHEM!!"

Bilal: ( not looking up from phone ) Bhai, khaansi aa rahi hai toh dawai le lo.
Subtitle: "Bro, if you're coughing, take some medicine."

Ahmad: I have something important to say. To everyone. As a family.

Subtitle: "I have something important to say. To everyone. As a family."

( Everyone looks up. Naseema's mother-radar activates immediately. )

Naseema: ( squinting ) Ki gal ae? Tera chehra kyon laal ae? Aankhen kyon ghoom rahi hain teri?
Subtitle: "What's the matter? Why is your face red? Why are your eyes wandering like that?"

Ahmad: Ami, I'm fine —

Subtitle: "Ami, I'm fine —"

Tariq (Abu): ( calmly, not looking up from newspaper ) Naseema. Let the boy speak.
Subtitle: "( calmly ) Naseema. Let the boy speak."

( Silence. The newspaper slowly lowers. Tasbeeh stops. Toothpick freezes mid-air. Bilal's screen goes dark. Zara's serum
drips onto the carpet. The entire apartment holds its breath. )
Ahmad: ( deep breath ) There is a girl. Her name is Sophie. She is French. And I... I like her very much.
Subtitle: "( deep breath ) There is a girl. Her name is Sophie. She is French. And I... I like her very much."

( THREE FULL SECONDS OF SILENCE. Then — EXPLOSION. )

Dado: ( voice so low it shakes the walls ) ...Ki keha toon?

Subtitle: "...What did you say?"

Naseema: ( standing so fast her dupatta launches like a rocket ) FRENCH?! SOPHIE?! YA ALLAH!!

Subtitle: "FRENCH?! SOPHIE?! YA ALLAH!!"

Subtitle: "OYE HOYE HOYE!"

Zara: ( dropping serum bottle ) WAIT. IS SHE PRETTY?!

Subtitle: "WAIT. IS SHE PRETTY?!"

( Dado raises ONE hand. The room goes SILENT instantly. )

Dado: Naseema.

Naseema: ( immediately ) Ji Babe ji.

Subtitle: "Yes Babe ji."

Dado: ( slowly, with the authority of seventy years ) Assi jaange unnu milne. We will go to meet them.
.

lawn suit. Dado — you need new lipstick.

Dado: ( with great dignity ) I know.

Subtitle: "I know."
◻ SCENE 3 — SOPHIE'S HOME | NEXT AFTERNOON |
PREPARATION
( A stunning classic Parisian apartment. High ceilings. Bookshelves floor to ceiling. Soft piano music. Fresh flowers everywhere. It
looks like a Pinterest board came to life. Miss Emma and Miss Jade are setting the table with five-star precision. )

Miss Emma: ( to Miss Jade, whispering ) Ils arrivent dans dix minutes.
French: Ils arrivent dans dix minutes.
Subtitle: "They are arriving in ten minutes."

Subtitle: "If Ahmad is a good person — and he seems to be — his family is welcome here."

( Sophie smiles. A knock at the door. Everyone takes a breath. Then — from behind the door — the sound of an entire
Punjabi family arriving in the elevator: Chachu's voice, Naseema shushing, Dado's bangles jangling. )

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
◻ SCENE 4 — THE ARRIVAL | FRONT DOOR

( Gabriel opens the door. What he sees: Naseema in her BRIGHTEST lawn suit, dupatta like a parachute. Dado in full
gold jewelry — a royal coronation. Chachu in shalwar kameez WITH a necktie on top ( nobody told him this doesn't
work ). Chachi in makeup so heavy it has its own gravitational pull. Zara — actually stylish, clearly the only one who
did research. Bilal — hair gel so thick that light bounces off his head. And Abu — calm, dignified, perfectly normal,
appearing to have arrived from a different family entirely. )

( Gabriel blinks once. Smiles. Does not break. )

INCIDENT

( Everyone is seated. Miss Emma and Miss Jade serve tea in the finest china. The table has macarons, croissants, petit
fours — arranged like an art exhibition. Naseema stares at the tiny portions the way a person stares at a WiFi signal
showing one bar. )

Sophie: ( gracefully ) Puis-je vous servir du thé ?

French: Puis-je vous servir du thé ?
Subtitle: "May I serve you some tea?"

Naseema: ( accepting cup, staring at a single macaron — whispers to Dado ) Ehhh... c'est tout ce qu'il y a à

◻ NARRATOR — CLOSING

Narrator 1 (English / Urdu):

And so two families — one from the banks of the Chenab, one from the banks of the Seine — sat together, ate
together, laughed together. And discovered what every human being secretly already knows: That love does not need
a translator. That kindness is the only language with no accent. That when you open your door — truly open it —
what walks in is not a stranger. What walks in is a story that was waiting to begin.

◻ MORAL OF THE STORY

1. Love has no borders, no language, no flag.

Ahmed and Sophie come from different worlds. But their love is real and brave. When two people truly care
for each other, their families — however different — can meet halfway.
2. Differences are not barriers — they are invitations.
The Desi family loves loudly. The French family loves quietly. Neither is wrong. Both are simply themselves.
When they finally sit together — warmth is found in unexpected places: a grandmother's nod, a father's real
laugh, a shared promise of biryani.
3. Courage creates connection.
Ahmad was afraid. Sophie was afraid. Both families were afraid. But when they chose to show up — with
their differences, their humor, their traditions — they found that the only wall between them was the one they
had built themselves.

"When you open your door to someone different — you don't just let them in. You let yourself out."
