THEME: Ocean Pollution Awareness+Beach Clean-ups
INTRODUCTION
The enviroment is not just the backdrop to our lives, it’s the foundation of
everything we depend on: the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we
eat, and the climate that sustains us. Yet, with growing pollution,
deforestation, and climate change, this vital support system is under threat.
Taking care of the environment is not a choice. It’s a responsibility we all share.
By protecting natural resources and promoting sustainability, we ensure
a healthier planet not only for ourselves but for future generations. The
question is no longer if we should act, but how soon and how boldly
we’re willing to make a difference.
OBJECTIVE A: INVESTIGATING
Define a goal:
Goal: Reduce ocean pollution in my community by organizing beach clean
ups and teaching people why pollution is harmful.

From Science: Pollution damages ecosystems, kills animals, and harm human health.

We went to the beach to help the cleaner pick up trash and sort the
recyclables into plastic, metal, and paper. My group — Nadim,
Aman, and I — worked together to cover different parts of the
shoreline so we could collect as much waste as possible. Saleh’s
brother Mansoor joined us even though he wasn’t part of our team,
but he still decided to help us clean the beach.

His support made the task feel more collaborative and energetic. As
we moved along the sand, we found plastic bottles tangled in
seaweed, metal cans hidden under rocks, and bits of paper scattered
near the water. Each time one of us filled a bag, we brought it back to
our sorting area near the lifeguard tower. The cleaner thanked us for
our effort, saying that having a group made the job much easier. By
the end, the beach looked noticeably cleaner, and we felt proud
knowing we had contributed to protecting the environment.
