Math Olympiad Daily Training Routine

Silver medal target · built for consistency over intensity

Weekday Routine (Mon–Fri, ~2.5 hrs)

Block Duration Activity

Warm-up 15 min 3–5 easy problems from already-mastered topics, no notes. Goal:
speed and accuracy, not learning.

Core study 60 min New theory or technique in the week's focus topic. Work through 2–3
worked examples by hand before touching practice problems.

Deliberate 60 min 3–5 problems at your edge (solvable in 20–45 min with real effort).
practice Stuck past 45 min → take one hint, not the full solution.

Review & log 15 min Update the mistake log (see below) for anything missed today.
Re-skim yesterday's log entries.

Weekend Routine
Day Duration Activity

Saturday 3 hrs, timed Full timed mock under real contest conditions (silence, no notes,
exact time limit). Score it immediately after — don't let it sit
overnight.

Sunday 90 min Mock post-mortem: redo every missed problem without looking at
solutions first. Add entries to the mistake log. Light review of the
week's weakest topic.

Weekly Topic Rotation

Rotate the "Core study" focus through the four pillars so no area goes stale. Adjust weighting toward whichever pillar your
diagnostic mock showed as weakest.

Week Focus

1 Algebra & inequalities

2 Number theory

3 Combinatorics

4 Geometry
Repeat the 4-week cycle, increasing problem difficulty each pass.

Mistake Log Format

One line per missed problem — this single habit matters more than problem count:

Date Topic What I missed Trigger to remember Retest date

Retest cold (no notes) 2–4 weeks later. If solved, close it. If not, it stays in rotation.

Discipline rule: consistency beats intensity. Two focused hours daily, every day, will outperform sporadic long sessions — protect the
daily block before anything else.
