Foreign language (French/German/Spanish)
"If the River Chambal could speak, what stories would it tell? Imagine that you
are the River Chambal.
• Create a comic strip on an A4 sheet.
• Your character-friend could be anyone connected to the river – a crocodile,
a fisherman, a tree on the riverbank, a bird flying above, or even a
monument that has stood by the river for centuries.
• Make the conversation witty, emotional, or even humorous – but ensure it
leaves the reader with a message about valuing and protecting the river."
• Example-
➢ The river argues with a crocodile about pollution.
➢ The river shares its memories with an old fort standing on its banks.

MATHEMATICS CHAMBAL RIVER PROJECT
tata1111111. Statistics and the River Chambal:
1. Statistics
Study and gather information on the following sub topics and represent it through
histogram, bar graphs, frequency polygon, pie chart etc. You can also you the concept
of mean, median, mode for the same.
(i) Speed of flow of Chambal River in different states
(ii) Area irrigated in different regions
(iii) Percentage of different toxic elements in the river
(iv) Comparison of pollution levels of Chambal River in different states
(v) Different crops in different states
(vi) Biodiversity data like species count, rainfall records, flora and fauna
2. Coordinate Geometry
Study the course of river, sanctuaries and nearby cities along Chambal River and
plot them on a coordinate plane. Find the distance between the points(eg. Kota
and Morena, etc)
3. Mensuration
Calculate the catchment area, canal cross sections, reservoir volume in the
Chambal valley project, irrigated area of a particular region
(Refer Parbati- Kalisindh-Chambal link project and Chambal valley project)
4. Trigonometry
Estimate the width of river at a particular place or height of a dam using angles of
elevation /depression.
5. Probability
(i) River Chambal is the home of gharials, dolphins, turtles, migratory birds etc.
Collect data on the same and relate the concept of probability with it. (e.g.: If
one species is sighted at random, what is the probability that it is a dolphin.
(ii) Study the rainfall pattern in the Chambal area and use probability in it e.g.: find
the probability of poor rainfall during a particular period etc
Collage Making:
(i) A poster or a collage depicting the integration of mathematics should be
made on an A3/A4 sized sheet in as creative way as possible by using various
art forms (quilling, painting, etc)
(ii) A project file should consist of minimum 15 pages including cover page, index,
content and references

SCIENCE
Overview: This project invites you to explore the significance of the River Chambal from
scientific, ecological, and human perspectives. The river originates from the Vindhya Range in
Madhya Pradesh and flows through Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh before joining the Yamuna
River. Chambal is known for its clean waters, deep ravines, and rich biodiversity, including
endangered species such as the gharial and Gangetic river dolphin, making it one of India’s
most pristine river systems.
The river plays a vital role in supporting agriculture, ecosystems, and regional livelihoods.
However, human activities such as the construction of dams like the Rana Pratap Sagar Dam
near Rawatbhata have altered its natural flow, sediment transport, and aquatic habitats. Threats
like pollution from agricultural runoff, untreated waste, and habitat fragmentation are
impacting the river’s health and the communities that rely on it.
Through field visits, water testing, data analysis, research from scientific articles, media
analysis, and interviews with experts, this project aims to understand how the Chambal River
sustains life and faces environmental challenges. By studying its ecological balance, species
diversity, and the impact of human activities, you will gain deeper insights into the importance
of conserving this vital river ecosystem.
Topics You Can Explore:
Hydroelectric Power Generation and Distribution in the Chambal River Basin
• Investigate how hydroelectric power stations such as Gandhi Sagar, Rana Pratap Sagar,
and Jawahar Sagar convert the potential energy of water into electrical energy using
turbines and generators.
• Find out the amount of electrical energy produced using available data and explore how
electrical energy is transmitted from these stations to nearby regions and how electrical
circuits are designed for efficient distribution.
• Analyze how much water is used per unit of electricity generated and the efficiency of
the energy conversion process.
• Study how the variation in river flow throughout the year affects electricity production
and how storage reservoirs manage supply during dry seasons.
• Investigate how dam-related infrastructure influences regional electricity availability,
load distribution, and demand-supply management.
Survey Report on Biodiversity in the Chambal River
• Prepare a survey report on the variety of aquatic and terrestrial species found in and
around the Chambal River. Give special focus to endangered and significant species
such as the gharial, mugger crocodile, river dolphin, freshwater turtles, and migratory
birds. Include observations on their habitats, behaviours, and conservation status.
Food Web Presentation of the Chambal Ecosystem
• Create a presentation illustrating the different components of the Chambal River’s food
web. Students can use charts, diagrams, models, or digital tools to show how producers,
consumers, and decomposers are connected, and how energy flows through the
ecosystem.
Water Quality and Oxygen Levels in the Chambal River
6
• Compare the dissolved oxygen (DO) and biological oxygen demand (BOD) levels of
the Chambal River with those of other tributaries of the Yamuna.
• Analyze how these values reflect the river’s overall health and explain why the
Chambal is considered one of the cleanest river systems in the region.
Human Environment and Interaction
• Study sustainable practices that help preserve rivers and maintain their ecological
balance.
• Suggest practical steps that can be taken to ensure that development activities are
balanced with the health and conservation of river ecosystems.
Presentation Formats:
You may present your work using any of the following formats to express your
ideas creatively and effectively:
• Documentary or Short Film
• Story and poetry writing
• Working Models
• Report Writing
• Street Play or Skit
• Poster Making / Infographics
• Illustrated Journal
Choose the format that best communicates your understanding and findings.
General Instructions for the Group Project:
1. This is a group activity, with each group comprising a maximum of four members.

opposition or regional parties.
Parties as a Link between People & Government
● Farmers’ issues (irrigation, drought) raised by parties through protests and rallies.
● Civil society + parties demand action against illegal sand mining in Chambal.
Challenges to Parties (Corruption, Money Power, Criminalization)
