Can Scuba Diving be a Good Workout?
One of scuba's attractions is the relaxation it offerst always gives
the chance
to escape from the frenetic pace of life on landDiving 'normally
requires
very little physical work when you are underwater, and for this, it's hard to
think of scuba as part of a fitness regime. But a day of diving always leads to a
good night's sleep and a large appetite. This is because we spend more energy
underwater than we think. Diving requiresa relatively low level of physical
activity, but other factors combine to make it an effective exercise.
The conditions of the underwater environment make scuba diving a fitness
tool. Normally, you dont feel yourself exercising while diving, but the water
around you is often conducting heat from your body 20 times faster than aif,
and you are always working hard to maintain its temperature. Some dives
require more physical activity than others, but it is always necessary.
