Introduction / Executive Summary
"Good morning, everyone. Today, I’ll be presenting our research study on Malaysian university
students' mental health under academic pressure.
Our study explores how academic expectations—especially around grades—affect students'
self-worth and emotional well-being. We found that many students experience stress, anxiety,
and burnout, largely due to a grades-focused culture. This highlights a growing need for a more
humanistic and supportive learning environment."
2. Key Findings from Preliminary Literature / Observations
From our literature review and initial observations, we identified several key patterns
• Many students admitted that their sense of value depends heavily on their academic
performance. To simply put, when grades drop, so does their self-esteem.
• Futhermore, Anxiety and emotional stress are common experiences among students.
These aren’t just occasional worries; they are constant companions throughout the
semester.
• On top of that, some students shared that they regularly skip meals, lose sleep, and
neglect self-care just to keep up with academic demands.
• Mental health stigma still silence student meaning that even when struggling, many
hesitate to seek help because they fear being seen as 'weak' or 'incapable.'
• Moreover, While students know about counseling services, they often don’t use them
due to discomfort, distrust, or lack of accessibility.
• And also What have we discovered through this research is a large number of students
feel uncomfortable opening up to their lecturers about their struggles, which creates a
gap between those who need support and those who can provide it."
Now lets look at,

Honestly, you cannot compare yourself with others because different people have different
capabilities, and stigma only grows when we judge our own struggles through someone else's
view." And also we need foster a mindset that all of this problem is solvable as
