Interview Questions

My name is Madziwanzira Irene; I am doing Master of Education Degree in Leadership,

Management and Development with the Midlands State University. I am carrying out a study

on Leadership Challenges in Managing Inclusive Education for Neurodiverse Learners in

Mainstream Secondary Schools, case of Sanyati Government High School.

I would like to hear your views concerning the topic under study. I assure you that data

collected from this will be confidential and will be solely used for the purpose of the

research. The information you give will not be availed to parents, other teachers or any other

people. Participation in this research should be voluntary and you have the right to

withdrawal any time from the research if you feel like doing so.

This interview is going to take thirty minutes and will be written down and once the interview

is completed the findings will be availed to you.

3. How many years of experience do you have in school leadership?

4. What type of school is this (urban/rural; day/ boarding)?

Section B: Understanding of Inclusive Education and Neurodiversity

1. How do you understand the concept of inclusive education within the context of your

school?

2. What does the term neurodiversity mean to you as a school leader?

3. Which type of neurodiverse learners are currently enrolled in your school?


4. How did you acquire your understanding of inclusive education and neurodiversity

(training, policy documents, experience)?

Section C: Leadership challenges in managing Inclusive Education.

1. What leadership challenges do you experience when implementing inclusive

education for neurodiverse learners?

2. How do resource availability and infrastructure affect inclusive education in your

school?

3. In what ways do teachers’ attitudes and competencies influence inclusive practices?

2. OBSERVATION CHECKLIST

Purpose of the observation

The observation checklist is used to generate contextual data on inclusive education practices

and leadership support for neurodiverse learners. Observation is non-participant and focuses

on school environment, classroom practices and school climate.

Observation Areas

A. Physical Environment

Presence of ramps and accessible pathways

Classroom seating arrangements that accommodate diverse learners

Availability of visual aids and learning support materials

Accessibility of school facilities (toilets, libraries, offices)


B. Classroom Practices

Evidence of differentiated teaching strategies

Teacher interaction with neurodiverse learners

Use of alternative or assistive learning resources

Learner participation

C. School Climate

Interaction between neurodiverse learners and peers

Teacher attitudes towards learner diversity

Visible messages or policies promoting inclusion

D. Leadership support

Presence of school leaders monitoring inclusive practices

Evidence of staff collaboration around learner support

Availability of leadership guidance during learning activities.

Recording Method

Observations will be recorded through detailed field notes immediately after each observation

session.

SECTION C. DOCUMENT ANALYSIS

Purpose of Document Analysis

Document analysis will be conducted to examine how inclusive education and neurodiversity

are reflected in official school and policy documents and to triangulate interview and

observation data.

School development and improvement plans

Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education circulars

Staff development and training records

Learner support and referral documents

Guiding Questions for Analysis

1. Does the document explicitly address inclusive education or neurodiversity?

3. Are strategies for supporting neurodiverse learners clearly articulated?

4. What resources or support mechanisms are identified in the document?

5. How frequently is inclusive education referenced in planning and staff development

documents?

Data Recording

Relevant information will be summarised and categorised according to emerging themes

aligned with the study’s research objectives.
