Renaissance is the inaugural of the modern world.
Revival / Rebirth
Base of Ren was to promote humanism.
There was a nexus between politics and religion. The king is the son of heaven,
he has thedivine right. This compromised social welfare.
Ren was a protest in the form of art.
Revival of Roman and Greek art, architecture, Science [Link] created a parallel
society , bigger that the original ,instead of trying to fight against it. It diluted
the power it had over people's thoughts and ideas. It freed them from mental
slavery. It was anintellectual movement.
The artists of the time took Greek and Roman arts and further developed it,
they didn't justrediscover it, they also overthrew the inspiration. Rediscovered
their own energy and strengths.
Artists were called virtuous and were known for their meticulous methods (
humans with adifferent kind of excellence.)It was individualistic in [Link]
was the centre, he was the scheme of study. It reached forideas beyond
existence.
The versatility and geniusness started getting appreciation. Concept ofvirtue
was promoted. It encouraged growth through disagreements and discussions.
It was an Urban Elitist Movement ( Rome, Milan, Florence etc. ) Elitists upheld
ideas and culture as theyhad the funds to do so. This is apart / different from
the class war struggle.

The idea of rationalism developed Rationalism - Development of power of
reasoning, way of reaching the truth.( reasonings andarguments ) It talked
about the reason/ cause and effect/ impact.
This is what differentiates usfrom animals, it is our ability to analyse right and

what, where, when, why, how '. It was an era of new learning.
Jacob Burckhardt believed that the renassaince was a golden age of beauty
and individualism when aesthetic considerations dominated the minds of men.
That Ren created a new civilization, no longer medieval but recognisable
modern.
The Ren did not merely refer to growing interest in classical art and learning.
Nor did it involve a total rejection of medieval values or the conscious
abandonment of Christian belief.
The term rebirth/ Ren was used in the sense of spiritual rebirth or resurrection
from the dead.
It's fundamental spirit was that of inquiry. It emphasised the fact that civilization
was not static but a moving panorama which opened up wide vista of
knowledge.
It partiy comprised the discovery of a new world, the cultivation of learning, the
founding of new sciences, the flowering of art and an essentially critical spirit.

One of the earliest forms of Ren was expressed by the intellectual movement
called Humanism.
Humanism
Began and achieved fruition first in Italy.

1) it encompassed human nature in all it's manifestation
2) it stressed the universatility of truth found in all philosophical and theological
school.
3) it emphasised the dignity of man.
