FINAL NEGOTIATION SCRIPT (ORGANIZED)

🟢 Opening
“Thank you for your time today. I really appreciate the offer, and I want to
say I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity and the direction of the or-
ganization.”
“Before I fully confirm my acceptance, I just wanted to clarify a few points so
we can make sure we are fully aligned.”

🔵 1. Contract Duration (Clause 1.3)

“Would it be possible to consider an initial one-year term with an option to
renew?

or alternatively include a 12-month break clause without reimbursement

obligations?”

🔵 2. Duties & Scope of Work (Clause 3.2 & 3.4)

“Could we clarify the limits of ‘reasonable scope’ in terms of additional du-
ties?”

“And for Clause 3.4, would it be possible to confirm that any significant
changes to role, responsibilities, reporting line, or location would require mu-
tual agreement?”

🔵 3. Working Hours (Clause 4.3)

4.3 Given the demands of the business, it is understood, and the Employee
accepts, that the role will require them to regularly work beyond 40 hours in
a given week. The compensation package is structured to accommodate
these additional hours.

This will be a big adjustment for as I am not used to working 8-5PM daily.

“Could you clarify the expected average weekly working hours in practice?”
“And how often the role is expected to go beyond the standard 40 hours per
week?”

🔵 5. Deductions (Clause 5.3)

Bermuda Regulatory Deductions a. Health Insurance Subject to acceptance by the
Employer’s health insurers, the Employee shall be enrolled in the Employer’s health
insurance scheme with 50% of the attributable cost being deducted from the Em-
ployee’s salary. The Employee will receive documentation regarding benefits and
coverage as well as enrolment forms under separate cover. b. Payroll Tax and So-
cial Insurance The statutory amounts in respect of social insurance (50% of the
cost) and payroll tax will be deducted from the Employee’s salary. c. Pension Contri-
butions Upon completion of the probation period, the Employee will during their em-
ployment under this Agreement become a member of the Employer’s pension plan
wherever the Employer has the scheme registered (or of any scheme set up by the
Employer in place of it) and the Employer and the Employee will promptly pay all
contributions due under the scheme. The statutory amounts for pension (currently
5%) will be deducted from the Employee’s salary.

“Could I also kindly ask for clarification on the estimated deductions and net
take-home pay after all deductions, including health insurance, social insur-
ance, and pension?”
“It would also help me understand the total percentage of deductions more
clearly.”

What this means for you (practically)

• Expect 3 types of deductions from your salary:

1. Health insurance premium
2. Social insurance contribution
3. Pension contribution
• Total deductions can be significant, so your net pay will be lower than
your gross salary.

🔵 6. Leave (Clause 6)
“I also wanted to clarify the leave entitlement. Is there any possibility of in-
creasing the initial annual leave beyond 10 days, or a pathway for leave to
increase over time?”
“In addition, given that my parents are elderly (in their 70s and 80s, I wanted
to ask how family emergencies are handled under the policy. Is there any
provision for emergency leave or compassionate leave in such situations?”

🔵 7. Accommodation (Clause 7.2)

“Could you provide more details about the accommodation arrangement,
particularly the number of occupants and the living setup?”

“Also, I understand that after the initial three months, there will be a USD
$1,000 monthly charge if I continue in company-provided accommodation.
Could you kindly clarify how this is structured, and whether there is any flexi-
bility around this arrangement?”

🔵 8. Probation / Termination Risk (Clause 8.2)

“Given the relocation involved, would there be any possibility of a minimum
notice period during probation, or any relocation support in the event of
early termination?”

🔵 9. Reimbursement Clause (Clause 11.1)

“I also wanted to clarify the reimbursement clause. Would it be possible to
provide an estimate of the potential total cost exposure?”
“And could you confirm whether this applies even if termination occurs be-
fore the commencement of work, or if there is any cap or limitation to this
obligation?”

🔵 4. Salary (Clause 5.1)

5.1 The Employee shall be paid a gross salary of BMD $84,000 per annum.
This shall be paid in 12 equal monthly installments of BMD $7,000.

In terms of compensation, I wanted to share that my current net income in

the Philippines is around 6–8 million pesos per year.
After reviewing the contract more closely, including deductions and the cost
of living in Bermuda, I feel that the current package of $84,000 ( P5,000,000)
is quite similar and might be lower to my current earnings rather than an in-
crease.

🟣 10. Salary Alignment & Overall Package

“I’ve taken time to carefully review the full offer, including salary, deduc-
tions, accommodation structure, and the cost of living in Bermuda.”
(Pause slightly)
“When I look at the net position after deductions and expected living ex-
penses, I realize that the financial improvement compared to my current sit-
uation in the Philippines is quite limited.”

🧭 Transition
“Because of that, I’m trying to assess whether the relocation is sustainable
and makes sense not only professionally, but also financially in the long
term.”

💡 Anchor expectation
“Given the leadership scope of the role, the relocation involved, and the re-
sponsibility of building the service, I would need the overall package to bet-
ter reflect that transition.”

🎯 The Ask (options-based)

“Would there be flexibility to revisit either the base salary, ideally in the
range of BMD $110,000 to $130,000, or alternatively enhance the pack-
age through housing support, relocation allowance, or a structured salary re-
view within the first 6 to 12 months?”

🟢 Closing
“I want to emphasize that I’m very interested in the role. My goal is simply to
ensure that the arrangement is fair, sustainable, and allows me to fully com-
mit long term.”
“I would really appreciate your thoughts on what might be possible.”
