A confidence interval was constructed to

estimate the true mean exam score of

students in the dataset. A 95% confidence
level was used for this analysis. The
sample mean exam score is approximately
67.24, and the confidence interval for the
mean is (67.14, 67.33).
So, if you were assessing similar students,
you could be 95% confident that the actual
average exam score would fall between
67.14 and 67.33. This means the typical
exam score for students like these is right
around 67 points.
Notice how the margin of error of just 0.09
shows that this estimate is very precise.
Because the sample is so large (n = 6,607), you can trust this narrow interval to give you an
accurate estimate of the average exam score.
A confidence interval was also constructed to estimate the true proportion of male students in the
population. A 95% confidence level was used. The sample proportion of male students is
approximately 0.5773, and the confidence interval for the proportion is (0.5654, 0.5892).
With this confidence interval, you can be 95% sure that the actual proportion of male students in
such a population falls between 56.54% and 58.92%. So, more than half of the students are likely
to be male.
The margin of error for this interval is approximately 0.0119, or about 1.19%. This interval is
considered accurate because the sample size is large and both successes and failures are well
above 10, satisfying the conditions for a confidence interval for a proportion.
