I. Abstract
E-commerce has been growing ever since the introduction of the internet and will
grow in future and technology gets cheaper and easy access of the internet to the
normal people. E-commerce has now been integrated into our modern-day culture for
us people. When buying products form the e-commerce site or even physical stores,
we always look for cheapest deal. In online store we can visit multiple websites and
get the best deal for the similar or same product. But doing show comes with the
tradeoff of our time. This can be solved by our proposed mini project by the use of a
shop bot which looks over numerous trusted ecommerce site using techniques like
web scraping or also using API if available. There is any simple website from where
user would be able to search for multiple websites and list the products. Also filtering
system can be available too. A dedicated database would be used to store the data then
the data would be processed and sent to the frontend from the backend. This not only
saves our money but also our time. This can also be used by the business for taking an
edge over another competitor aggressively pricing the product too.

Chapter 1: Introduction
1.1 Overview
Online shopping in Nepal has grown rapidly in recent years. Platforms such as Daraz,
Hamrobazar, Mudita Store, Itti, Bigbyte and many more offer a wide range of
products. While this has made shopping easier, it has also created a challenge for
consumers: prices, vary across platforms, making it difficult to identify the best deals
for consumer. Currently, users must manually visit multiple websites, search for the
same product, compare prices. This process is time-consuming, inefficient, and prone
to errors.
To address this problem, we propose a web-based price comparison system that
automatically collects product data such as prices from multiple Nepali e-commerce
platforms using web scraping techniques. The collected data will be presented in a
unified, user-friendly web interface, allowing users to find the best products quickly
and efficiently. The project will utilize Python for web scraping and backend
development, and HTML and JavaScript for building an interactive frontend.

1.2 Problem of Statement

In Nepal there are many ecommerce sites which we people use on the daily basis.
There have been ever growing numbers of e-commerce site but in the context of
finding the best deal by the customer there exist a problem. Even within a same
website there exist a different price for a same product. If a consumer wish to get the
good deals for the product they would have to go through numbers of online stores,
then they have to spend a fortune of their time tracking the pricing of the same
product on various ecommerce sites. Only then they could get a good deal. This
difference in the price for the similar or same product for the consumer has made it
harder for consumer to find the good and the cheapest deal for the customers.

1.3 Objectives
The objectivities of this project are:
 Collect product information such as prices and descriptions from various e-
commerce sites.
 Store the collected data in a structured database for easy retrieval.

1
 Build a responsive web interface using HTML, JavaScript, and Python that
allows users to search and compare products.
 Implement a comparison feature that identifies the best deals based on price.

1.4 Aim
The aim of our mini project is to design and develop a fully functioning web-based
application that enables consumers to compare prices across various Nepali
ecommerce platforms in an efficient, accurate manner with a good UI/UX design.

1.5 Motivation
Consumers often face uncertainty regarding the true value of products due to
inconsistent pricing across platforms. platforms. As students and regular users of e-
commerce services ourselves, the motivation behind this project stems from firsthand
frustration and the desire to streamline the online shopping experience. People wish to
have a good deal whenever buying any product. But the issues come when doing it
manually. Additionally, the rise of data-driven decision-making highlights the
importance of creating accessible digital tools that empower users. A website that can
automate this and save your money and time.

1.6 Scope
In Scope
● Web scraping prices and descriptions from e-commerce sites.
● Presenting product information on a web interface with search and sorting
features.
Out of Scope
● Payment or purchase functionalities.
● Mobile application development.
● Scraping platforms that block automated scraping or violate legal/ethical rules.

1.7 Applications
There could potentially be many applications of this mini project as below:
 Assist shoppers to identify the best deals
 Assist business in competitor analysis.
 Support students to learn about web scraping techniques and data analytics
too.

2
1.8 Feasibility Study
The system is technically feasible due to the availability of Python scraping libraries,
open-source frameworks, and relational database systems. Economically, it requires
minimal financial investment, making it suitable for academic project work.
Operational feasibility is supported by the simplicity of the user interface, ensuring
accessibility for users of varying technical backgrounds.

Chapter 2: Literature Review
2.1 Summary and Theories
The popularity of online shopping among Nepalese customers has increased as the
technology-based goods becomes cheaper, cost and availability of internet services.
On the other hand, the convenient modes of payments, and user-friendly, as well as,
interactive shopping apps are further paving a pathway toward rapid growth of the
online shopping companies [1]. The ever-growing number of websites and market
space make it increasingly difficult for consumers to purchase a desired product at the
most competitive price [2].
The core of the consumer's problem lies in price fluctuation for identical or similar
products across various online retailers [3]. Studies confirm that consumers
consistently prioritize finding the cheapest price when making purchasing decisions
[3]. However, achieving this requires a significant investment of consumer time and
effort. To secure the most affordable price, buyers are forced to engage in a tedious
and laborious process: manually visiting, searching, and comparing the same product
on numerous competing e-commerce sites [3].
To overcome the inefficiencies of manual price tracking, the development of
sophisticated automated solutions, known as Comparison Shopping Engines, has
become essential [4]. These platforms are often referred to as Shop bots or Price bots
because their main function is to identify and present the absolute best price available
for a given item [4]. The functionality of these engines is built upon data extraction
technologies, primarily Web Scraping and Web Crawling [5].

2.2 Identification of Gaps

Although there exist many commercially available websites and shop bots to look and
compare website like [Link], [Link], [Link] for foreign countries,
during our research we have found none of these tools to help the consumer get the
best deal for Nepal. Since there were no proper research report for Nepal’s e-
commerce sites, we had only taken reference from the research report based on other
countries. Also, the accuracy depends upon the number of e-commerce site look so
there also might be a case where the presented deals might not the best deal.

Chapter 3: System Design

Figure 1: Block Diagram of the Our Project: Sasto Deal

5
Chapter 4: Expected Output
The main expected output of our system is to give users a simple and convenient way
to compare product prices across different Nepali e-commerce websites in one place.
Instead of visiting Daraz, Hamrobazar, Mudita Store, Itti, Bigbyte, separately, users
can just search for a product on our platform and instantly see all prices side by side.
The system shows details like product name, image, and of course, the lowest price
among all sites. If users find a deal they like, they can click and go directly to the
original website to make their purchase. This saves a lot of time and helps online
buyers quickly spot the best deal without the frustration of checking each website
manually.
To make this comparison possible, the system uses web scraping and data extraction
techniques to collect product information from each of these websites and store it in a
structured database. Since every platform has its own layout and structure, the scraper
is designed to adapt and retrieve accurate, up-to-date data from each source. However,
by selecting the most suitable scraping method for each platform and standardizing
the extracted data, the system ensures that all products appear cleanly and consistently
on the comparison page.
As a result, users will receive accurate, real-time comparisons that help them make
smarter purchasing decisions. The platform will also include a clean and responsive
UI that ensures smooth navigation and a positive user experience on both computers
and mobile browsers. This project is expected to demonstrate the practical use of
Python-based scraping tools, frontend technologies like HTML and JavaScript, and
database integration. Beyond helping users, the system will also show how automated
data collection can support businesses in tracking competitor pricing and
understanding market trends.

6
Chapter 5: Conclusion
Ever growing e-commerce sites have made more difficult for consumer do more
digging to get a better deal. But by using a shop bot which can do multiple searches in
various ecommerce site and filter the product according to our need which can help
buyers save money as well as time. A web-based application where users can search
in real time and look for the prices of the product and go to the link to buy. Frontend
part would be handled by React framework with JavaScript, HTML and CSS and
backend by a database, Django framework with python for web scraping and using
official API if it exists. This can also be used by business to look for the prices of the
competitor for analysis and be ahead of the competitors too. As these such of website
doesn’t exist for countries like Nepal it would solve problem of consumer having to
spend time search for the good deals.
