SLIDE 1 — Title

SONY Corporation — A History of Innovation

Imagine a small, destroyed city after a terrible war. Buildings are broken, people are poor, and
everything seems hopeless. But in the middle of all that, two men had a dream. They believed
that technology could change the world — and they were right. Today, I am going to take you
on a journey through the history of one of the most iconic companies ever created. A company
that gave us the Walkman, the PlayStation, and so much more. Ladies and gentlemen — this is
the story of Sony.

SLIDE 2 — The Beginning (1945–1950)

How It All Started

It all started in 1945, just after World War Two. Tokyo was destroyed, but a man named Masaru
Ibuka refused to give up. He opened a small electronics shop inside a bombed-out department
store with almost no money — only a vision. In 1946, his friend Akio Morita joined him, and
together they built a company with just 8 employees. Despite everything working against them,
by 1950 they had already created Japan's very first magnetic tape recorder. It was a small step
— but the beginning of something truly enormous.

SLIDE 3 — Becoming Sony (1950s–1960s)

A Name the World Could Remember

In 1958, the founders realized that if they wanted to conquer the world, they needed a name
the world could remember. So they created 'Sony' — from the Latin word sonus, meaning
sound, and the slang word sonny, meaning a bright young person. The name was new, but the
products were extraordinary. In 1957, they released the world's first pocket-sized transistor
radio, which became a huge hit in America. By 1960, Sony had already opened its first office in
New York. And in 1968, the Trinitron television — a display so advanced it won an Emmy Award
— confirmed that Sony was no longer just a Japanese brand. It was a global force.

SLIDE 4 — Iconic Products

Products That Changed the World

Sony did not just make products — it changed culture. In 1979, the Walkman gave people
something they never had before: their own personal soundtrack, wherever they went. In 1984,
the Discman brought CD quality sound into people's pockets. Then in 1994, the PlayStation
arrived and completely transformed the world of video games — turning them from a children's
hobby into a mainstream entertainment experience. And in 2006, the PlayStation 3 helped Blu-
ray win the format war and become the global standard for HD movies. Each of these products
did not just sell well — they changed the way people lived.

SLIDE 5 — Sony Today

A Legacy That Continues

After nearly 80 years, Sony shows no signs of slowing down. With around 90,000 employees
and over 88 billion dollars in annual revenue, it remains one of the most powerful companies in
the world. It dominates the image sensor market, meaning the camera in your smartphone
most likely runs on Sony technology. Beyond electronics, Sony owns a major music label, a
Hollywood film studio, and the PlayStation platform — one of the most beloved gaming brands
on earth. From a tiny shop with 8 employees in a broken city, Sony grew into a company that
touched billions of lives. That is the power of a great idea — and the courage to believe in it.
