Preparation

CBLM, equipment, tools, and other materials. Print label SAFETY FIRST
and put near the Practical Work Area, so you will not forget to mention.

FIRST DAY: ORIENTATION

Preliminaries
Trainer: May I request everybody to please stand for the prayer, Amen.
You may take your sit.
Good day everyone! Welcome to Lambayong National High
School (LamNaHS), a TESDA certified accredited training Center
in Computer Systems Servicing NCII, Thank you for choosing
LamNaHS as your training ground for this qualification. By the
way, I am Cris Noriel E. Sumaoang, Jr. your certified Trainer in
Computer System Servicing NC II. (CSS NC2)

Checking of Attendance
Trainer: Before we proceed to our orientation proper, allow me to check
your attendance first. When I call your name, please raise your
hand and say present.

ORIENTATION PROPER (PPT)

Trainer: Since everyone is here, let’s start the orientation proper. So here
in LamNaHS we practice or deliver training in CBT approach.
So, What is CBT?
Competency Based Training (CBT) is a training delivery approach
that focuses on the competency development of the learner as a
result of the training.
So it means, that the main goal of CBT is to make sure that
learners are not just absorbing information, but are capable of
effectively applying what they’ve learned in their work.
And CBT has 10 principles
⮚ Read number 1

⮚ 2. Learning is modular in its structure. – So, it means that

CBT allows a tailored approach that can adapt to the learner’s
pace, needs, and prior knowledge which makes learning more
flexible.

⮚ 4. Training is based on work that must be performed. –

It means that learning is based on the actual industry practice.

Roles of Trainer/Trainee (PPT)

Trainer: The Roles of CBT Trainer. As your trainer, my major role is
coordinating activities to ensure that learners are actively
engaged, understand the material, and are able to apply what
they’ve learned in real-world situation. All in all I will be your
Good Facilitator.

Trainer: Now, we’re done with my role. Let’s proceed to your roles as
trainee. (PPT)
� Competency based training is individualized and “learner
centered” trainees
� Trainee pursue instructions for their personal goals and
objectives.
� Trainee pursue instructions for their personal goals and
objectives.
� Trainees learn at their own rate with in the program
guidelines.
Also, make sure every time we attend the training make sure to
observe proper hygiene and wear appropriate clothing.

Trainer: Now, we will proceed to the competencies that has be to be

covered based on the Training Regulations (TR)
So in Computer Systems Servicing NC II, we have
4 Basic Competencies,
7 Common Competencies and
4 Core Competencies that comprises the Unit of Competencies,
Number 1 Install and configure computer systems
Number 2 Set-up Computer Networks
Number 3 Set-up Computer Servers
Number 4 Maintain and Repair Computer Systems and Networks

The Use OF CBLM

Trainer: What is CBLM?
CBLM is is simply a well-designed and carefully develop learning
materials that give the trainees a detailed instruction to guide
through the learning process.

(Present CBLM in front while scanning its part)

Trainer: So this is the example of CBLM and this is the parts or the
content of it.
First is Information Sheet, so you will read it carefully then you
will answer Self-check and you will compare your answer to the
Answer key.
This have also Task Sheet, Operation Sheet and Job sheet.
 then you will refer your performance to the performance criteria
checklist or PCC.

Instructional Facilities And Resources

Trainer: We also have Instructional facilities and resources so along with
our training you are allowed to use our facilities and resources
but make sure to observe SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
Later we will have a facility tour on the 9 learning Areas. Okay?

Evaluation System (PPT)

Trainer: In our evaluation system we will use 4 methods
written,
demonstration
oral interview
and portfolio
Trainer: Every Unit of Competencies you’ve done, you will be given an
Achievement Certificate but if all CORE Unit of Competencies are
rated COMPETENT, you will receive CERTIFICATE OF TRAINING.

Monitoring Tools
Trainer: This is our monitoring tools. We have Progress chat,
Achievement Chart, and Training Activity Matrix. These tools will
help us monitor your progress if you want to check our monitoring
tool you can check it this side.

Rating System (PPT)

Trainer: So we have only 2 rating system.
We have competent – If your performance is satisfactorily meet
in accordance with the industry standards. and
Not Yet Competent – If the performance is not yet satisfactorily
or did not meet the required industry standards.
I would like to emphasize that not yet competent does not mean
you’re a failure, maybe there is something to improve. But we
must think positive always

Nine Learning Areas (Tour)

Trainer: Now I want you to stand up and let’s have a facility tour on the
nine learning areas
Practical work – area – in this area you can acquire the skills
and knowledge in all units of competencies in this qualification.
Learning Resource Center – where you can find the necessary
materials in the whole training, you can find the CBLM here.

Pre-Assessment (PPT)
Trainer: Since we recognize prior learning, we will have first a pre-
assessment.
Trainer: But what is pre training-assessment?
The purpose of this Pre-assessment is to measure the present
skills, (Current competencies) knowledge, attitude and
characteristics of the trainees.

Trainer: And now I am going to administer the pre-assessment.
We have here the data gathering instrument, the self-
assessment check, and then the pre-test. You may take your
time in answering and pls. don’t hesitate to ask if you have some
questions or clarifications.

pre-test)

Trainer: Okay, Rolando Urlanda come her for a while.

Please take your seat.

Trainee: Is there some problem Sir.?

Trainer: Actually no, is just that as I checked the result of your Pre-
Assessment, (with RPL) it shows here that, you Rolando have
the prior learning in the Unit of Competency 1 the Installation
and Configuration of the Computer Systems which include
assemble computer hardware, prepare installer, install operating
system and drivers for peripherals/ devices, install application
software, and conduct testing.
Since you have a prior knowledge in line with the qualification, I
want to validate your prior learning. Can you show me
evidences? Do you have some proof?

Trainee: Yes Sir. I Have certificates here.

Trainer: I see, based on your certificate you have been working as a

Computer Technician in EMCOR, Incorporated for more than a
year now. When did you acquire this certificate?
Trainer: Only this year sir.

Trainer: Would you mind if I will further validate your prior learning with
demonstration and some questions?

Trainee: Yes Sir. Sure.

Trainer: Let us go to the Practical Work Area. Here are the materials,
tools and equipment. Also, the specific instruction,
Allow me to read it.
But before you perform, Observe Occupational Health and Safety
and always wear YOUR PPE and you are not allowed to energize
your work without my permission. Okay?

Trainee: Sure, Sir.

Trainer: Time is up. (The trainer has demonstration checklist)

Trainer: Let us go back to the Institutional Assessment Area for further

questions.

Trainer: First question, what is the first step in assembling computer

hardware?

Trainee: The first step in assembling computer hardware is to prepare a

clean, static-free workspace.

Trainer: Next question, how can you avoid electrical hazards when
assembling or installing computer hardware?

Trainee: To avoid electrical hazards make sure that the computer is

power of.

Trainer: Based on my observation, you have demonstrated the entire

task satisfactorily and you answer all of the questions correctly. I
am now convinced that you are competent on Unit of
Competency 1 which is Install and Configure Computer Systems.
Because of the result of this validation, I am now going to record
it in the achievement chart, progress chart and I will put your
name in the training activity matrix. (Put the name of the
trainee)

Trainer: Follow me to the Learning Resource Area to proceed on the Unit

of Competency 2 on Set-up Computer Networks.

(Provide the CBLM)

Trainer: Since you already have competency on UC 1 proceed to UC 2.
There are different instructions for you to follow. First, read the
 Information Sheet, answer self-check, and compare your answers
to the Answer Key or you can go to the Computer Laboratory to
view the video clips and please inform me if you are ready to
practice the task sheet. I’ll go back later.

Trainer: How are you Rolando?

Trainee: I’m fine sir.

Trainer: Are you ready to practice the activity.

Trainee: Yes sir.

Trainer: Okay, let’s go to the Practical Work Area. Here is the task sheet,
equipment, tools and materials needed to crimp network cables.
You must follow and perform the procedures/steps stated here
and then check your performance against the performance
criteria. However, always bear in mind to follow safety precaution
always wear PPE.
You must insert it correctly (While observing the trainee)
Okay are you done?
Based on my observation, you were able to perform the task
satisfactorily. So, I will record this in the ACHIEVEMENT CHART.

Trainer: Since you are tent icompen all the tasks in this UC Set-up
Computer Networks, you are now qualified to take the
Institutional Competency Assessment. Are you ready?

Trainee: Can I do it tomorrow sir.

Trainer: Ok. See you tomorrow then.

NEXT DAY: INSTITUTIONAL COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

Trainer: Good morning everyone,

Before we start let’s check your attendance first. When I call your
name, please raise your hand and say present.
Rolando Urlanda
Rolando we will have your Institutional Competency Assessment.
Are you ready?

Trainee: Yes sir.

Trainer: Okay Rolando, today, you are going to undergo institutional

assessment in Unit of Competency Set-up Computer Networks.
The methods of assessment are you going to undergo are:
WRITTEN TEST, DEMONSTRATION AND ORAL QUESTIONING.
 The written test is 30 items and you will be given 30 minutes to
answer. The passing score is 80% that is 24 pts.
Demonstration which is good for 4 hours. proceed to workstation
area ….

Lastly, is the oral questioning. Are you ready?

Trainer: Okay let’s go to the institutional assessment area. Here
is the written test.
Are you done?

(Collect the paper)

Trainer: Let us proceed to the Practical Work Area. Here is your specific
instruction. Read it.
Perform this task:
⮚ Install network cables

⮚ Set network configuration

⮚ Set router/Wi-Fi/ wireless access point/repeater configuration

⮚ Inspect and test the configured computer networks.

You have 4 hours to do the entire task.
Read and interpret if there are instructions you don’t understand
try to ask me. Here are the tools, equipment and materials. Are
you ready to perform the demonstration?

(Observe trainee while holding the rating sheets)

Trainer: Okay, are you done?
Let’s go back to the Institutional Assessment Area for your oral
interview.

Trainer: First question, why is it important to create bootable media

correctly, and what could go wrong if it's not done properly?

Trainee: Creating bootable media correctly ensures that the

system can start the installation process from the USB or
DVD drive.

Trainer: What precautions should be taken to ensure the installer file is

free from malware before distribution?

Trainee: Before distributing an installer, it should be scanned

using updated antivirus and antimalware tools.

(Give time or allocate time to check the written test

before giving feedback)
Feedbacking
Trainer: Based on the result of your institutional assessment, your
written test is satisfactorily you got 27 out of 30 items. You have
answered all of the questions correctly in oral interview. Just be
confident in answering next time.
With regards to your demonstration, you were able to do it
satisfactorily. Therefore, you are competent in the Unit of
Competency in Set-up Computer Networks however may i re…
areas for improvement . Congratulations! I am going to record
this result in the PROGRESS CHART.

Trainer: Since you were competent in all the Units of Competency… in
the Core Competencies in this qualification, you are now qualified
to take the National Competency Assessment in Computer
Systems Servicing NC II.

Trainer: Look for the nearest accredited assessment center in Tacurong

City.
Bring with you, your 2 pcs, passport size ID picture and it must
be white background.
The Assessment fee will be P 1,059.00. and fill up the application
form and self-assessment guide and wait for your schedule. But
before you leave, please fill up this session evaluation form.
Evaluate our training venue, facilities, and most of all the trainer
for our improvements.
