WHAT IS ABAP
ABAP stands for Advanced Business Application
Programming—SAP's own programming language designed
specifically for building and customising SAP applications. It
processes large volumes of business data efficiently and
forms the backbone of enterprise system customisations
worldwide.
Developed by Sap in 1983
02
WHY WE USE
Tailored Solutions
1. Companies modify SAP software to match their unique business processes and
requirements, avoiding one-size-fits-all constraints.
Flexible Programming
2.
Supports both procedural programming (step-by-step logic) and
object-oriented programming (reusable components), giving
developers choice in approach.
Seamless Integration
3.
Runs natively inside SAP systems, eliminating compatibility issues
and ensuring optimal performance without external interfaces.

SAP CPI WITH SAP ABAP
Phase 1 - Requirement -Functional , ABAP, CPI works on data avaiibity,
confirmation, execution
↓
Phase 2 -Activating O Data Adapter- ABAP identifies the SAP Tables i.e,
Sales order headers, Items, Status Tables and Dev creates CDS view exposes
sales order data
↓
Phase 3 - Designing of Integration flow- CPI design the Integration flow by
using OData sender adapter as a sender
04
SAP CPI WITH SAP ABAP
Phase 4 - SFTP as a receiver- CPI verifys the Connectivity, Protocol,
Retry, Monitoring of SFTP, SFTP excutes Data transforring
↓
Phase 5 - Error handeling - ABAP works on the Business validation errors,
Application logs, Reprocessing logic
CPI works on Message failures, Adapter errors,Retry & monitoring
dashboard

SAP ABAP ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW
SAP operates on a proven three-tier architecture that separates
concerns for superior performance, security, and maintainability.
Presentation Layer
User interface where employees interact with SAP through screens and reports
Application Layer
Where ABAP programs execute; processes business logic and coordinates requests
Database Layer
Stores all company data; accessed by application server; secured and optimised
