A. Engage
Motivation
Before we go on to our lesson today, we will have
an activity first. I will give each of you pieces of
paper with images and it has missing piece. You
need to find the matching piece from your
classmates to form the image correctly. Then, you
will paste it on the board.
Did you understand? - Yes ma’am!
Okay. Then let’s start. - (The pupils will do the activity)

Based from the activity that we had, what do you
think is our lesson or topic for today? - I think our lesson for today is all about
Polygons.
That’s right! Our lesson for today is all about
Polygons.
C. Explain
Discussion
Now class, lets define first what is Polygon?
Polygon is a closed figure formed by three or
more straight line segments.
Did you know that polygons are named according
to the number of its sides?
Now, let me introduce to you the different types
of polygons.
The first one is Triangle.
How many sides and angles does it have? - The triangle has three sides and three
angles ma’am!
Yes! Triangle has three sides and three angles.
The next one is the Quadrilateral. How many
sides and angles does it have? - The quadrilateral has four sides and four
angles ma’am!
That’s right! Quadrilateral has four sides and four
angles.
Next is the Pentagon. Can you count how many
- It has five sides and five angles ma’am!

Very good! A pentagon has five sides and five
angles.
Next is the hexagon and it has how many sides
and angles? - It has six sides and six angles ma’am!
Awesome! Hexagon has six sides and six angles.
Now, we come to the next polygon which is the
Heptagon. So, how many sides and angles does it
have? - Heptagon has seven sides and seven
angles ma’am!
Yes! It has seven sides and seven angles.
Next is the Octagon. How many sides and angles
does it have? - The octagon has eight sides and eight
angles ma’am!
Very good! An octagon has eight sides and eight
angles.
The second to the last polygon that we are going
to discuss is the Nonagon. How many sides and
angles does it have? - Nonagon has nine sides and nine angles
ma’am!
Very good! It has nine sides and nine angles.
The last one is the Decagon and it has how many
sides and angles? - Decagon has ten sides and ten angles
ma’am!
Very good!
Did you understand our lesson children? - Yes ma’am!
Do you have questions or clarifications? - None ma’am!
If that is the case, then we will have an activity.
D. Elaborate
Application
I will group you into two groups. The first row
will be the group 1 and the second row will be the
group 2.
The group 1 will be the first group to do the
activity. After which, the group 2 will be the next.
Group 1: I will give you a box and inside of it,
there are shapes or figures. You are going to pick
figures, identify and write on the board what type
of polygon did you pick.
- (The pupils in group 1 will do the activity)
Very good group 1. Let’s give them five big
claps.
- (The pupils will clap)
Now, it’s time for the group 2.
Group 2: I will give you an envelope and inside
of it there are pieces of papers wherein the types
of polygons are written. You are going to draw on
the board the type of polygon that you will pick. - (The pupils in group 2 will do the activity)
Okay, very good group 2! You all did a great job.
Let’s give them five big claps also. - (The pupils will clap)
Do you have any questions children? - None ma’am!
Generalization
So, what was our topic that we have discussed a
while ago? - It’s all about Polygons ma’am!
And what is Polygon? - Polygon is a closed figure formed by three
or more straight line segments ma’am.
Very good! And what are the types of polygons - The types of polygons are triangle with
with their corresponding number of sides? three sides, quadrilateral with four sides,
pentagon with five sides, hexagon with six
sides, heptagon with seven sides, octagon
with eight sides, nonagon with nine sides
and decagon with ten sides.
Very good! Is that clear to you children? - Yes ma’am!
Okay, then bring out your paper and pencil and
let’s have our short quiz. - (The pupils will do the quiz)
