Business Analytics Project
1. Assignment Overview
In this assignment, students will work on a real-world business analytics project by
collecting raw business data from a company or organization and transforming it into
meaningful business insights using Power BI.
Students are expected to:
● Collect raw data from a real company/business
● Clean and preprocess the data
● Perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) in Power BI
● Create a proper data model
● Use DAX calculations and measures
● Design interactive dashboards and reports
● Present business insights and recommendations

4. Step 2: Data Cleaning & Preprocessing
Students must clean the collected data before analysis.
Required Cleaning Tasks
Students should demonstrate:
● Handling missing values
● Removing duplicates
● Correcting data types
● Standardizing formats
● Renaming columns
● Handling inconsistent values
● Removing unnecessary columns
● Creating calculated columns where necessary
Deliverables
Students must provide:
● Raw dataset
● Cleaned dataset
● Documentation of cleaning steps
5. Step 3: ETL Using Power BI
Students must perform ETL operations using Power Query Editor in Power BI.
Required ETL Tasks
Students should demonstrate:
● Extracting data from different sources
● Transforming data using Power Query
● Merging/appending tables
● Creating custom columns
● Filtering and grouping data
● Data transformation workflows
6. Step 5: DAX Calculations
Students must create DAX measures and calculated columns.
