The aim of this project is to investigate shortages of sports equipment at other schools. Sports
equipment is important for helping learners participate in physical education activities such as
football, netball, athletics and other games. When schools do not have enough equipment, learners
may fail to develop their sporting skills.
b) Project Specification
This project involves gathering information from learners and teachers about the availability of
sports equipment. The investigation also looks at the types of sports played at schools and the
equipment needed for those sports.
Stage 2: Investigation of Related Ideas
a) Evidence of Related Ideas
During the investigation it was discovered that some schools have limited sports equipment.
Examples include footballs, netball posts, cones for athletics, jerseys, whistles and stopwatches.
Many learners sometimes have to share equipment during lessons and training.

equipment locally.

This solution is practical because schools can involve parents, teachers and community members

1. Organise sports days where parents pay a small entrance fee.
2. Approach local businesses to sponsor sports equipment.
3. Encourage parents to donate unused sports items.
Stage 5: Presentation of Final Solution
The final solution is to organise a school sports fundraising day. During this event learners compete
in different sports while parents and community members contribute funds. The money raised can
then be used to purchase sports equipment such as footballs, cones, nets and jerseys.
Stage 6: Evaluation and Recommendation
a) Relevance of Statement of Intent
The investigation helped to understand why many schools experience shortages of sports
equipment and how communities can help solve this problem.
b) Challenges Encountered
Some schools were difficult to contact and some learners did not know the exact number of
equipment available.
c) Recommendations
Schools should regularly check their sports equipment and repair damaged items. Communities
should support school sports programmes and local organisations should sponsor school sports
activities.
