QUESTION

This brief assignment helps you begin recognizing AI systems in your daily life and
understanding the fundamental concepts introduced in Week One. You will identify AI
applications you encounter, research one in depth, and reflect on what type of AI it
represents.

This assignment assesses your understanding of AI definitions, types (Narrow AI, General
AI, Superintelligence), and your ability to conduct basic research while reflecting critically
on AI's role in society.

Part One

Task: Identify and list FIVE (5) AI-powered systems or applications you have used or
encountered in the past week.

For each AI system, provide:

1. Name of the AI system/application.

2. Where/how you encountered it
3. What task it performed
4. Type of AI: Is this Narrow AI, General AI, or Superintelligence? Explain your answer
in 1-2 sentences.

Part Two

Task: Select ONE AI system from your list above and research it in more detail. Write a brief
report (300-400 words) covering the points below.

Your report must address:

1. Explain in simple terms how this AI system operates.

2. What kind of data does it use?
3. How does it learn or make decisions? (You don't need deep technical details - focus
on the basic concept that a non-technical person could understand).
4. When was this AI system or technology first developed or released?
5. Has it improved over time? Find at least one significant milestone in its development.
6. How has this AI system changed the way people do things?
7. What benefits does it provide to users or society? Are there any concerns, limitations,
or criticisms about this AI system?
8. List at least TWO credible sources you used for your research. Include website
names, article titles, authors (if available), and dates. Use proper citation format.

Part Three

Task: Write a thoughtful reflection (150-200 words) answering these questions:

1. Did you realize how much AI is already part of your daily life before the AI lectures?
2. What surprised you most about the AI systems you identified?
3. Based on what you've learned about AI types, what do you think the future of AI
might look like in your field of study or future career?
4. What is one question about AI that you're curious to explore further in this course?
Why does this question interest you?
