Rules and Regulations for the Panel

Discussion
1. General Structure:
• The panel discussion will have a total duration of 10 minutes.
• Each side will be allotted 5 minutes to present their arguments.
• The panel consists of two participants:
o A senior faculty member.
o A student chosen by the faculty member.

2. Speaking Order & Time Management:


• The faculty member and student will decide among themselves who speaks first.
• No interruptions are permitted while a speaker is presenting.
• A warning bell will ring 30 seconds before the allocated time ends.
• Any speaker exceeding their time limit will have their final remarks cut off.

3. Judging Criteria:

Participants will be evaluated based on the following six criteria:

1. Clarity of Thought & Expression – The ability to present ideas in a structured and
understandable manner.
2. Depth of Argument – Quality of reasoning and supporting evidence.
3. Relevance to the Topic – Staying on topic and addressing key aspects effectively.
4. Engagement & Persuasiveness – The ability to captivate and convince the audience.
5. Etiquette & Professionalism – Respectful discourse, body language, and decorum.
6. Time Management – Effective use of allotted time without rushing or excessive
pausing.

4. Conduct Guidelines:
• Participants must maintain a professional and respectful tone at all times.
• Personal attacks, derogatory remarks, or inappropriate language will result in immediate
disqualification.
• Each speaker must present their own viewpoints—external assistance is not allowed.
• Any factual claims should be backed with appropriate references or logical reasoning.

5. Adjudication & Decision:


• A panel of judges will assess performances based on the criteria mentioned above.
• The decision of the judges will be final and binding, with no scope for re-evaluation.
• In case of a tie, the panel reserves the right to consider overall presentation impact.

6. Technical & Logistical Aspects:


• Participants must ensure proper audibility and clarity while speaking.
• No electronic devices (e.g., mobile phones, tablets) are allowed during the discussion.
• Any violation of rules will lead to a penalty or disqualification, subject to the judges’
discretion.
