Agile Software Development
Course Objective:
To provide students with knowledge of Agile methodologies, Scrum, XP, Lean, and Kanban
principles for effective software development.
Course Outcomes (COs)
1. CO1: Understand Agile values, principles, and the Agile Manifesto.
2. CO2: Apply Agile principles for effective project delivery and teamwork.
3. CO3: Analyze Scrum framework, self-organizing teams, and Scrum practices.
4. CO4: Understand XP practices and embrace change in software development.
5. CO5: Apply Lean and Kanban principles for continuous process improvement.
UNIT I
Learning Agile: Agile, Getting Agile into your brain, Understanding Agile values, No Silver
Bullet, Agile to the Rescue, The Agile Manifesto, Understanding the Elephant, Where to Start
with a New Methodology.
UNIT II
The Agile Principles: The 12 Principles of Agile Software, Customer collaboration, Project
delivery, Communication and teamwork, Project execution, Continuous improvement, The
Agile Project.
UNIT III
SCRUM and Self-Organizing Teams: Rules of Scrum, Scrum team roles, Daily Scrum, Sprint
Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, User Stories, Velocity, Scrum practices and values.
UNIT IV
XP and Embracing Change: XP practices, XP values, mindset, principles, simplicity,
incremental design, code and design decisions.
UNIT V
Lean, Kanban and Agile Coaching: Lean thinking, waste elimination, product understanding,
Kanban principles, flow management, process improvement, Agile coaching principles.
