Solar Eclipse

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking sunlight and
casting a shadow on Earth.

Lunar Eclipse

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, causing the Earth's
shadow to fall on the Moon.

Asteroid

Asteroids are small rocky objects that orbit the Sun, mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars
and Jupiter.

Meteoroid

A meteoroid is a small piece of rock or metal traveling through space.

Meteor

A meteor is a meteoroid that enters Earth's atmosphere and burns, producing a bright streak of light
called a shooting star.

Meteorite

A meteorite is a meteoroid that does not completely burn up and reaches the Earth's surface.

Comet

A comet is made of ice, dust, and gas. It orbits the Sun and forms a glowing tail when near the Sun.

Importance of Asteroids

Asteroids help scientists understand the early solar system, may contain valuable minerals, and
help us study possible threats to Earth.
