After signing in Windows, we see the display on our monitor screen with different icons on
it. This display of Windows is called the Desktop.
Icons
There are some small graphical symbols on the desktop. Each symbol represents a specific
program, file or folder. These symbols are called Icons.
Taskbar
There is a horizontal bar at the bottom of the desktop. This bar is called the Taskbar. When
we open any program, file or folder, it takes place on the taskbar.

Title Bar

The desktop button is on the very right of the taskbar. When we click it, all active windows
minimize and the desktop appears.
Taskbar Buttons
There are some icons on the right of the Start button. The icons of Search, Microsoft Edge,
File Explorer etc. are pinned there. You can pin the buttons of your favorite or frequently
used applications there too. You can set the taskbar buttons on the left as well.
Notification Area
notification area displays the date and time. There are icons for volume, network
connections, touch keyboard, Language settings, microphone, new notifications and
Windows security etc.
System Icons
On the very right of the taskbar, there are some system icons. These include the icon of
speaker, network, date location, windows security etc.
