BUS TICKET BOOKING SYSTEM 2025-2026
INTRODUCTION
The Bus Ticket Booking System is a computerized application developed to simplify and automate the process of booking bus tickets. In the
modern era, the rapid growth of internet technology has transformed the way people access transportation services. Traditional ticket
booking methods often require passengers to visit booking counters, stand in long queues, and spend considerable time completing
reservations. These manual processes can lead to errors, inconvenience, and inefficient management of booking records. To overcome
these challenges, the Bus Ticket Booking System provides an online platform that enables passengers to book tickets quickly and conveniently
from anywhere at any time.
The system allows users to search for available buses based on source, destination, and travel date. Passengers can view bus schedules, compare
ticket prices, select preferred seats, and complete bookings through secure online payment methods. Once the payment is successful, the
system generates an electronic ticket that can be downloaded or printed for future reference. This automated approach not only saves time but
also enhances the overall travel experience by providing real-time information and instant booking confirmation.

NEED FOR SYSTEM
Traditional ticket booking methods often require passengers to wait in long queues
and depend on manual record management. Such systems are time-consuming and
prone to errors. With increasing internet usage and digital transactions, there is a
need for an automated booking system that offers quick access to bus schedules, seat
availability, and online payments. This system provides convenience and improves
operational efficiency.

BUS TICKET BOOKING SYSTEM 2025-2026
Objectives of the System
The primary objective of the Bus Ticket Booking System is to provide a fast,
reliable, and secure platform for booking bus tickets. It aims to reduce manual
effort, improve customer convenience, ensure real-time seat availability, and
facilitate online payment options. The system also helps transport operators
manage schedules, bookings, and passenger information efficiently through a
centralized database.

BUS TICKET BOOKING SYSTEM 2025-2026
Existing System
In the traditional booking system, passengers usually visit a ticket counter to reserve seats. Staff
members manually verify seat availability and issue tickets. This process consumes significant time
and may result in errors in ticket allocation or record maintenance. Moreover, passengers cannot
easily access information regarding bus schedules, routes, or cancellations without visiting the
booking office.

Conclusion
The Bus Ticket Booking System is an efficient and user-friendly application designed to simplify the
process of booking, managing, and canceling bus tickets. It eliminates the need for manual ticket
reservation by providing an online platform where passengers can easily search routes, check seat
availability, select preferred seats, and make secure payments. The system helps reduce paperwork,
minimizes human errors, and saves valuable time for both passengers and bus operators.
By maintaining a centralized database, the application ensures accurate record management, real-time
updates, and better customer service. Features such as user registration, ticket generation, booking
history, cancellation options, and payment integration improve the overall travel experience. The system
also enhances operational efficiency by automating scheduling, seat allocation, and report generation.
In conclusion, the Bus Ticket Booking System is a reliable and modern solution for transportation
management. It increases convenience, improves service quality, and supports the digital transformation
of the travel industry. With future enhancements such as mobile applications, GPS tracking, and AI-
based route optimization, the system can become even more efficient and beneficial for users and
transport organizations.

BUS TICKET BOOKING SYSTEM 2025-2026
IMPLEMENTATION
Bus Details Management Module
This module is responsible for storing and managing bus information within the system. The details
include Bus ID, Bus Name, Source, Destination, and Total Seating Capacity. The program uses a
dictionary data structure to maintain bus records and provides a function to display all available buses.
This module acts as the foundation of the booking system because all reservation operations depend on
the availability of bus information.
Passenger Registration Module
The Passenger Registration Module collects and stores passenger information such as Passenger ID,
Name, Age, Gender, and Mobile Number. The entered details are validated and stored in a passenger
database. This module ensures that every booking is associated with a valid passenger record. The
registration process helps maintain accurate customer information and simplifies ticket management
operations.

IMPLEMENTATION
Seat Availability and Ticket Booking Module
The Seat Availability Module monitors all seats available in a particular bus and displays vacant seats to
the user. It continuously updates seat status whenever a booking or cancellation is performed. The Ticket
Booking Module allows passengers to reserve seats by selecting an available seat number. Once the
booking is successful, the seat status changes from Available to Booked, preventing duplicate reservations
and ensuring data consistency.
Ticket Cancellation and Fare Calculation Module
The Ticket Cancellation Module allows passengers to cancel their reservations whenever required. After
cancellation, the selected seat becomes available again for future bookings. The Fare Calculation Module
calculates ticket charges based on travel distance and number of passengers. Additional charges such as
GST are included to determine the final ticket amount accurately.

IMPLEMENTATION
Search Bus and Ticket Generation Module
The Search Bus Module enables passengers to find buses based on source and destination locations. It
searches through available bus records and displays matching results. The Ticket Generation Module
creates a formatted ticket containing passenger information, bus details, seat number, journey route, and
fare details. This ticket serves as confirmation of successful booking.
Booking History and Menu Driven Module
The Booking History Module maintains records of all previous bookings and allows administrators or
users to review reservation details whenever required. The Menu Driven Module integrates all
functionalities into a single interface, providing options for registration, booking, cancellation, fare
calculation, ticket generation, and history viewing. This improves usability and makes the system user-
friendly.

Conclusion
The Bus Ticket Booking System was successfully designed and implemented using Database Management
System (DBMS) concepts. The project efficiently manages bus details, passenger information, seat
availability, ticket booking, ticket cancellation, fare calculation, and booking records in a systematic
manner. The database ensures accurate storage, retrieval, and management of data while minimizing
redundancy and maintaining data integrity.
Through the implementation of various modules and SQL operations, the system provides a reliable and
user-friendly platform for handling bus reservation activities. The developed system reduces manual
work, improves booking accuracy, prevents duplicate reservations, and enables quick access to passenger
and ticket information. It also enhances data security and simplifies record maintenance through effective
database management techniques.
The successful completion of this project demonstrates the practical application of DBMS concepts such
as tables, queries, relationships, insertion, updating, deletion, and data retrieval. Therefore, the Bus
Ticket Booking System serves as an efficient solution for automating reservation processes and can be
further enhanced with online payment integration, real-time seat tracking, and mobile application
support in future developments.
