Scene 1: Birth (Revised)

(Hospital setup. Mother on bed. Doctor holding the twins.)

Doctor:
Congratulations! Twins!

(First baby, Meera, cries immediately.)

Doctor (smiling):
Good, healthy baby.

Relatives / Society (happy):

Hear that? Such a strong voice!
What a healthy child!

(Doctor picks up second baby, Aashi. Silence. She does not cry.)

Society Person 1 (worried):

Why is she so quiet?

Society Person 2:
A new born should cry.

Society Person 3:
Come on… make her cry.

Mother (anxious):
Why isn’t she crying?

Society Person 1:
Cry, little one. Show us your strength.

Society Person 2:
Come on… don’t stay silent.

(Doctor gently taps the baby. A moment of silence. Then Aashi cries.)

Everyone (relieved):
There it is!

Society Person 3:
Good. That’s how it should be.

(Lights focus on Aashi.)

Narrator (short):
The moment you are born into this world, the pressure to be perfect begins.
Scene 2: Walking
(Both toddlers trying to walk.)
Father (to Meera):
Come on, Meera! One more step!
(Meera walks. Parents clap.)
Mother:
Very good!
(Aashi tries, falls.)
Mother:
Stand up, Aashi! Look at your sister.
(Aashi stands, falls again.)
Mother:
Why are you so slow?
Aashi (small voice):
I’m trying…
Father:
She’ll learn.
Mother:
Trying isn’t enough. She has to do better.
(Aashi looks hurt.)
Narrator:
For one, walking was learning.
For the other, walking became pressure.
Scene 3: School Life

(Classroom setup.)

Teacher:
Results are here!

Teacher (to Meera):

Good job! 70 marks.

(Meera smiles.)

Teacher (to Aashi):

85 marks… but your sister finished the paper earlier. Why so slow?

(Aashi lowers her head.)

Narrator:
Even when she did well… it was never enough.

(Next moment: sports/art competition)

Teacher:
Meera wins the dance competition!

(Meera celebrates.)
Mother (to Aashi):
Why waste time in drawing? Focus on studies.

Aashi:
But I like drawing…

Mother:
Liking doesn’t matter. Success matters.

Scene 4: Teenage Pressure

(Aashi surrounded by books, stressed.)

Mother:
Top in exams.

Father:
Get into the best college.

Mother:
No mistakes.

Father:
No excuses.

(Voices repeat loudly: “Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!”)

(Aashi covers her ears.)

Aashi (shouting):
What if I can’t?

(On the other side, Meera is painting and studying peacefully.)

Friend:
Aren’t you stressed?

Meera:
I work hard. But I also live.

Scene 6: Future
(Family discussion.)
Father:
It’s time to choose your future.
Mother:
Aashi, science. Stable career.
Aashi:
I want to study art.
Mother:
Art? That’s not a future.
Aashi:
But I love it.
Mother:
Love doesn’t build life. Success does.
Meera:
What if success is doing what you love?
Mother:
Life isn’t about enjoyment.
Meera:
Then what is life about?
Scene 7: Breaking Point

(Aashi sitting alone with books.)

Aashi (to herself):

Cry on time. Walk on time. Study more. Score more. Be more.

(Meera enters.)

Meera:
Why are you crying?

Aashi:
Because I’m tired.

Meera:
Of what?

Aashi:
Of proving myself every day.

Meera:
To whom?

Aashi:
Everyone.

Meera:
And to yourself?

(Pause.)

Aashi:
I don’t even know what I want anymore.
Final Scene

(Family together.)

Aashi (to parents):

All my life, Fullof pressure.
When I cried late, pressured to be perfect .
When I walked late, pressured to be perfect.
When I got good marks, pressured to be perfect
When I found what I loved, pressured to be perfect .

(Parents look down.)

Aashi:
I was never living. I was only chasing perfect.

Meera:
Nobody has to be perfect to be worthy.

Father:
We wanted the best for you.

Aashi:
Then let me be myself. Maybe that is my best.

Mother (softly):
Maybe we forgot that.

Meera (to audience):

Not everyone grows the same way.

Aashi:
Not everyone shines the same way.

Both together:
Life is not about being perfect.
Life is about being happy, growing, and being yourself.
