SALES HIRING — INTERVIEW GUIDE
CRM Software Sales | CA Services Sales
To find the right person — ask the right questions
SECTION 1 — COMMON + CHARACTER QUESTIONS (For All Candidates)
Ask every candidate these selected questions — covering character, motivation, and past experience.
Q1 Tell me about yourself — and specifically, why did you choose sales as a
career?
Look For Look for self-awareness, motivation, and communication confidence.
Follow-up How did you get into sales — was it your own decision or did circumstances lead you
here?
Q2 Tell me about something you've sold in your life where you genuinely
found it difficult — what was it and what was the result?
Look For Look for real sales experience, storytelling ability, and resilience.
Follow-up If you faced rejection, what did you do? Did you give up or try again?
Q4 If a customer is being very rude, what do you do?
Look For Test emotional control and professionalism.
Follow-up Give a real example when someone was rude to you — and what did you do?
SECTION 2 — FIELD WORK READINESS (50km Travel + Outdoor)
These questions directly test if the candidate is mentally and physically ready for a field role.
Q3 Rain, flat tyre, and the customer cancelled the meeting at the last minute —
what do you do in all of this?
Look For Look for problem-solving and resilience under pressure — things don't always go
smoothly in the field.
Follow-up Do you get frustrated in such situations or do you adapt?
Q4 In the field you'll have to work alone without any supervisor — plan it
yourself, execute it yourself. Are you comfortable with that?
Look For Check self-discipline and independence — you can't micromanage in the field.
Follow-up Give an example of when you planned and completed a task entirely on your own
without anyone's help.
Q5 If you're getting rejected continuously in the same area for 2 weeks — how
would you change your strategy?
Look For Look for field strategy thinking and persistence without stubbornness — you don't keep
doing the same thing repeatedly.
Follow-up What would your new approach be — different timing, different pitch, or different target?
SECTION 3 — LIVE PRODUCT PITCH (iOS vs Android Scenario)
Let the candidate pitch live — you use Android, they want to sell iOS. Real pressure scenario. NOTE: This
scenario is deliberately tough. A candidate who panics or badmouths Android won't work. One who asks about
the customer's need and pitches value — that's the right person.
Q1 I use Android and I have no interest in buying iOS software — now
convince me why I should get iOS. Go!
Look For Look for live persuasion skill — how do they handle an objection-heavy scenario, do they
panic or stay confident?
Follow-up After the pitch, ask: you started pitching without understanding my need — what should
you have asked first?
SECTION 4 — CORPORATE CLIENT HUNTING + MEETING
Finding large corporates, breaking through gatekeepers, and multi-stakeholder meetings — check if the candidate
has these skills.
Q1 Where will you find large corporate clients — LinkedIn, cold email, referral,
or something else? Walk me through it step by step.
Look For Look for prospecting strategy and practical thinking — a vague answer won't do.
Follow-up How will you reach the corporate decision maker on LinkedIn — will you go through HR
or directly?
Q5 A corporate decision maker on LinkedIn has accepted your request —
what will you write in the first message?
Look For Look for LinkedIn outreach skill — a generic 'Hello sir, I have a proposal' won't work.
Follow-up If they don't respond, when and what will you send as the 2nd message?
SECTION 5 — CRM SOFTWARE SALES (Role Specific)
Only for CRM Sales role candidates — ask these after the above sections.
Q3 How would you pitch CRM to a CA firm or SME business — what will you
say in the first 60 seconds?
Look For Look for elevator pitch, targeting sense, and confidence.
Follow-up If you get silence after the pitch, what is your next step?
SECTION 6 — CA SERVICES SALES (Role Specific)
Only for CA Services Sales role candidates — ask these after the above sections.
Q1 What are the different services that come under CA services — name the
ones you know.
Look For Look for domain awareness — basic knowledge of CA services is essential.
Follow-up GST, ITR, TDS, ROC — explain any one of these directly to a customer.
