 Summary of the OJT Experience

During my On-the-Job Training, I was given the opportunity to perform various technical and field-

related tasks that enhanced both my knowledge and practical skills in information technology and

equipment maintenance. Throughout my training, I was assigned to assist in different service areas

such as CCTV installation, troubleshooting, printer maintenance, computer servicing, and field

support. These experiences allowed me to apply the lessons I learned in school in actual workplace

situations while also gaining new technical knowledge through hands-on work.

A large part of my OJT involved assisting in the installation and maintenance of CCTV systems in

several locations. At Galog Dormitory, I helped install CCTV cameras and wiring connections. In

Central City, I assisted in diagnosing NVR issues and checking wirings to identify technical

problems. I also participated in rewiring and relocating CCTV units in San Joaquin, as well as

recrimping cables and inspecting wire connections at Mama Rose Hotel. At KMFI LCHOP, I helped

fix an undetected CCTV unit, and in Rapide Ligao, I assisted in installing CCTV cameras. These

tasks gave me practical experience in handling surveillance equipment, organizing cable

connections, troubleshooting network and wiring issues, and understanding the importance of proper

installation for security systems.

Aside from CCTV-related work, I also gained experience in printer maintenance and repair. I

assisted several times in fixing printers by checking for issues, cleaning printer heads, and resetting

printer systems when necessary. One of these tasks was done at Gogon Barangay Hall. Through

these repeated assignments, I became more familiar with printer troubleshooting and learned the

importance of patience and attention to detail when repairing office equipment. I also assisted in

laptop and PC troubleshooting and maintenance, which improved my understanding of computer

hardware and basic technical repairs.

In addition, I was assigned to assist in cleaning point-of-sale (POS) systems at Uncle John’s and

South Star Drug. This helped me understand the importance of regular maintenance of business

equipment to ensure proper operation. I was also involved in field support activities such as pickup

of relief goods at Shellmead and delivery of relief supplies at D-Way Station. These assignments

helped improve my communication, teamwork, and responsibility while working outside the office.

Overall, my OJT experience was highly valuable and helped me grow both technically and

professionally. It strengthened my skills in troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and fieldwork

while teaching me how to adapt to different tasks and work environments. It also gave me

confidence in applying my knowledge in real-life situations and prepared me for future work in the

field of information technology.

 Assessment of the OJT/Practicum Program

During my OJT, I acquired a wide range of technical skills related to Information
Technology and equipment servicing. I learned how to troubleshoot and repair PCs,
laptops, and printers, as well as properly install and maintain CCTV systems. I also
developed skills in cable management, wiring inspection, and basic network
troubleshooting.

Aside from technical skills, I improved my attitude toward work by becoming more
patient, responsible, and detail-oriented, especially when handling complex or time-
consuming tasks. I also became more adaptable in different working environments and
learned how to follow instructions carefully. In terms of teamwork, I became more
cooperative and a team-friendly worker by assisting my co-workers, communicating
effectively during fieldwork, and supporting group tasks to ensureefficiency and
accuracy.

A. Theories seen in practice

Throughout my training, I was able to apply several theories and concepts learned in
school into real-world situations. These include basic computer hardware and software
troubleshooting, network fundamentals such as connectivity and wiring, and the
principles of CCTV system installation and configuration. I also observed how preventive
maintenance is applied in actual workplace settings to ensure that equipment remains
functional and efficient.

B. Feedback that can be given to the company or institution

The OJT program is very helpful in developing practical skills, especially in CCTV
installation, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance. It provides valuable hands-on
experience that enhances our technical knowledge and work readiness. However, the
availability of complete tools and equipment could be improved to avoid delays and
make tasks more efficient. Overall, the program is beneficial and well-structured for skill
development.

C. Benefits gained
The OJT program helped me gain practical experience and improved my technical skills
in computer servicing, printer repair, and CCTV installation. It also enhanced my
communication skills, teamwork, and confidence in handling real workplace tasks.
Additionally, it gave me a better understanding of professional behavior, work discipline,
and how to adapt to different job environments. Overall, it prepared me for future
employment in the field of Information Technology.

D. Problems encountered
One of the main problems I encountered during my OJT was the lack of tools and
equipment, which sometimes caused delays in completing tasks. There were also
instances where troubleshooting took longer due to limited resources. In addition, some
tasks required repeated checking and adjustments, which tested patience and time
management. Despite these challenges, I was still able to complete assigned tasks with
the help of supervisors and teamwork.
