Declaration of Ai Use I used AI for routine technical task, such as grammar checks, formatting
and translation assistance. The teacher is responsible for validating and
delivering the lessons and supporting the student needs.
Intentions
Learning Using a labeled diagram, trace how food travels through the digestive tract
Competency and explain how
different digestive processes work, including mechanical processing,
secretion, digestion,
absorption, and elimination.
Content Standard
● Organ systems work together for the growth and survival of the organism.
● Inherited traits passed from parents to offspring are governed by the rules
on the
patterns of inheritance.
● Classification of living things shows life’s diversity.
● Photosynthesis and respiration are processes that show how living things
● obtain energy and nutrients from the environment.
● The use of timeline and charts can illustrate scientific knowledge of the
structure of
the atom has evolved over time.
● The current structure of the atom includes subatomic particles, their
Performance symbol, mass,
Standard charge, and location.
By the end of the Term, learners demonstrate the use of models, flow
charts, and diagrams
to illustrate how body systems work together for the growth and survival of
an organism.
They represent patterns of inheritance and predict simple ratios of offspring.
They explain
that the classification of living things shows the diversity and unity of living
things. They
describe the processes of respiration and photosynthesis and plan and
record a scientific
investigation to verify the raw materials needed. They use flow charts and
diagrams to
explain cycles in nature. They demonstrate an understanding of the
structure of the atom
and how our understandings have changed over time. They draw models of
the atom and
use tables to represent the properties of subatomic particles.
Learning Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
[Link] the major organs of the digestive system.
[Link] the parts of the digestive tract correctly.
3. Appreciate the importance of the digestive system in maintaining health,
4. Trace the pathway of food through the digestive tract using a labeled
diagram.
Learner Context The learners have prior knowledge about body organs and their functions
from previous grade levels. Most learners can identify common body parts
but may have limited understanding of how organs work together in
digestion. Visual representations and collaborative activities will help
learners better understand the pathway of food inside the body. Learners
are naturally curious about how their bodies function and can relate the
lesson to their daily experiences of eating and digestion.
Learning
Experience
Pre-Lesson The teacher will ask questions:
What will happen if you swallow your food?
Where do you think the food goes after leaving the mouth?
Why do you think we need to eat?
The teacher will record the responses of the students and connect to the
lesson.
Before we, proceed to the discussion the students will read the objectives.
Flow At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
The teacher will give activities:
Activity 1: Picture
The teacher will show picture and the students will analyze and answer the
given questions.
1. What did you see in the picture?
2. What did you feel while eating food or something?
3. Do you think the food will stay forever inside our body??
Discussion:
Digestive System - The digestive system is a continuous tract that breaks
down food into usable nutrients for energy, growth, and tissue repair, while
expelling waste. It features the gastrointestinal (GI) tract—a ≈ 30-foot
muscular tube extending from the mouth to the anus—and accessory
organs like the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder.
The Main Stages of Digestion
1. Ingestion: Taking food into the mouth.
2. Digestion: Breaking food down into tiny, usable nutrients.
3. Absorption: Pulling nutrients into the bloodstream to power the body.
4. Elimination: Removing solid waste from the body
Activity 2: Explore me!
The teacher will show the diagram of digestive system with labeled parts.
The following are the parts of digestive system.
1. Mouth – it ingest the food.
2. Esophagus- it is a muscular tube the conveys the food from the
pharynx to the stomach.
3. Stomach- it is a pear- shaped organ that is connected to the distal
end of esophagus.
4. Small intestine- a long , coiled tube that fills the abdomen. It is where
the nutrients of the food transport to the rest of our body.
5. Large intestine- it is called a colon, that is connected to our small
intestine where feces is temporarily stored.
6. Rectum- it is a warehouse where feces stored.
7. Anus- the exit point of our feces or un-digest food.
Activity 3: Process ME!
The teacher will ask question for the students to understand the lessons.
1. Which organ receives food first?
2. Which organ removes the waste inside our body?
3. Which organ receives most nutrients from the food we ate?
4. Where does the food goes after we swallow it?
5. What is the function of anus?
Activity 4: Label and Trace!
I’ll group you into 5 and each group will identify the parts of digestive
system and trace the pathway of food through digestive tract.
Criteria:
Accuracy of information-5
Completeness-5
Teamwork-5
Organization and presentation-5
Generalization:
