as practicable.
The figures in the margin indicate full marks.
Attempt all the questions.
1. a) Use the concept of Mesh analysis to find mesh current in the 7
given figure.
b) Use Norton's theorem to calculate the current in 6 resistor in 8
the given network.
2. a) State maximum power transfer theorem. Use superposition theorem to 7
find the current through 20 Ohm resistance in the following circuit.

b) Use Thevenin's theorem to calculate the current flowing through 4 8
resistor.
3. a) Compute the average and effective values of the square voltage wave 7
shown in figure below.
b) An ac series circuit has a resistance of 10 Ohm and an inductance of 8
0.2 H and capacitance of 60 f. If the applied voltage is 200 V,
calculate resonant frequency and power at resonance.
4. a) How will a series RLC circuit be in resonance? Also describe the 8
process for the measurement of power in a three phase circuit by two
wattmeters method.
b) For the star connected three phase circuit calculate the line current and 7
total power consumed by the load if Z = 40 + j50 and the line voltage
v = 400 V.

effect of armature reaction can be minimized?
b) A 220 V dc shunt motor takes 4 A at no load and runs at speed of 8
1000 rpm. When the motor is loaded the speed drops to 960 rpm.
Calculate the current drawn by the motor from the supply when
loaded. Given that Ra = 0.5 and Rf = 110 . Consider the flux to be
constant.
