gauge mounting holes in the horizontal plane.
-Using the gasket and four mounting screws supplied, attach the gauge to the
adapter (be sure the gauge is right side up: the bracket tab for locating dial chamber
should be on the right). Torque the screws evenly to 6,8 Nm (Buna-N gasket) and
16,4 Nm (Teflon/St. St. spiral wound gasket) using a cross pattern.
-Reattach the 4” dial chamber and bezel to the Senior gauge head brackets.
-If you end up with the dial
chamber upside down, you (*)
cannot solve the problem by
rotating the bracket; you must
rotate the entire gauge 180°.

Junior Gauge Extension

D ESCRIPTION :
With the development of the installation of underground tanks, it appeared that in some
circumstances, water invaded the cavity where the tank accessories are located. Due to
this presence of water, mud or even ice, the gauge dial might be unreadable.
The junior gauge extension has been designed to be mounted on the junior gauge head
in place of the dial and so raises the dial of 165mm from the bottom of the cavity allowing
a better reading of the dial. This junior extension consists of a rod with a magnet on each
end supported by a tube, a bottom head which fits the junior gauge head and an upper
head on which the dial is mounted.

M ATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION :
Heads and magnet support : Zinc
Tube and rod : Aluminuim
Magnets : Alnico
Bearings and screws : Stainless Steel
Rivets : Aluminuim

M OUNTING :
The junior gauge extension is mounted on the
junior head by means of two aluminuim rivets.
This arrangement will avoid to damage the
gauges head in case of a heavy shock is applied
to the extension.

To achieve a good accuracy of the reading of

the tank content, it is recommended to use the
junior gauge extension together with a gauge
equipped with a strong magnet.

Advanced Matrix Film
TwinSite™ For LP Gas Service TS011
ISO 9001 AND QS-9000 REGISTERED

Application

For LP Gas Service

Advanced Matrix Film TwinSite™
The TwinSite™ is a magnetically-driven, variable-resis-
tance sender with potted lead wires. Senders are utilized
on mobile applications where direct reading plus an elec-
trical signal to a remote fuel level indicator are required.
Models are available to fit all Rochester Junior™, liquid-
level gauges equipped with our large Alnico drive magnet.

General Information & Features

This 2-wire TwinSite™ sender employs a laser trimmed,
advanced matrix resistance element. The TwinSite™ is
capable of generating accurate and reliable signals to
remote receivers in most common resistance ranges with
infinite resolution (see the back side for the technical
specifications). The standard model of this TwinSite™
comes with the premium harsh environment construction
at the price of the previous standard unit.
The dedicated ground path terminal wire eliminates the
major reliability fault found in most variable resistance
sender designs.
Redundant wiper and collector contacts are used to im-
prove reliability and reduce contact noise. In testing, this U.S. & Foreign
Patents
unit has greatly surpassed the competitive units in reli-
ability and durability.
The TwinSite™ also provides the easiest to read local indication of any TwinSite™ sender Roches-
ter has produced. The bright, user friendly dial face is divided into fractional units.
The case is hermetically sealed by ultrasonic heating to melt and fuse the case into one solid
piece. This keeps weather out, ensuring “no-fog” readability while greatly extending mechanical
life. The seal is a high reliability, no-gasket design. The plastic case is capable of withstanding
vibration and shock that would render comparable metal designs useless.
The plastic case is far more resistant to corrosion than any metal-cased version and is capable of
withstanding broad variations in temperature. The plastic lens (and the rest of the case) is a spe-
cial, UV stabilized material.
Electrical connections are sealed with multiple epoxy chambers. The connecting wires are also
sealed behind this epoxy barrier. This sealing process prevents an impervious barrier to road salt.
The sender is mounted onto the Rochester Junior™ gauge with #0040-00416 stainless steel dial
screws (6 — 32 x 5⁄16"). An additional item available to ensure weatherproof connections from the
TwinSite™ to the receiver is heat shrink solder sleeves part number 0025-00495.

HALL EFFECT TRANSMITTER
6320S*307*E (3.3Vdc Power Supply)
GENERAL DESCRITION :
The Hall Effect TwinsiteTM transmitter is a magnetically-
driven Hall Effect, voltage output sender with potted wires
and cable. Senders are utilized where direct reading plus
an electrical signal to a remote level indication are

contacts. It counts on the fact that a magnet bends the path 60
of electrons moving through a semiconductor. This
bending is detected and converted into ratiometric voltage 50
output. 40
Many existing domestic storage tanks are equipped with 30 E
gauge heaving a weak drive magnet suited for low friction 20 10
direct-indicating dial assemblies. As the Hall Effect

MAGNETEL TRANSMITTER MOUNTING :
(Refer to drawings 63*3S*****C/X 4 inch and 8 inch attached).

Remove the dial and eventually the 4” magnetel dial brackets, dismount the two required studs, install
the two extended studs supplied with the mounting kit. Screw the two head nuts on the extended
studs, screw the two jam nuts on them and slip the transmitter on the two extended studs towards the
gauge head. Screw the two last jam nuts and block the four jam nuts in order to fix the transmitter.
Place the 8” dial on the transmitter plate.

When using ASA/DIN (refer to special drawing) flange do not dismount the studs but use the
aluminium stand off post.

729* TRANSMITTER MOUNTING :

(Refer to drawing 63*3S*****S attached).

Usually the gauge is supplied with the transmitter installed on the head. The transmitter is located on
the gauge head cavity and blocked by a clamping M5 screw. During reassembly be sure to install
correctly the screw on its place because the proper reading conformity is related to the perfect angular
alignment of the head and the transmitter .

629* TRANSMITTER MOUNTING :

(Refer to drawing 63*3S*****P attached).

Remove the gauge dial by unscrewing the two screws and remove the dial bracket .Locate the
transmitter on the gauge head with the cable gland on the same side as the squared mark. Block the
transmitter by screwing the four clamping M6 screws gradually .

IMPORTANT NOTE :

CAUTION : ALL ELECTRICAL WORKS MUST BE CARRIED OUT “OUT OF POWER” !

The opening of the technical box and/or the dismount of the cable gland are forbidden. They
automatically induce the loss of warranty. The cable has to be installed in conformity with the local
rules. The wiring of each transmitter has to be made by authorized people following the guidelines
concerning each type of transmitter and receiver. This equipment cannot be modified. It must be
repaired only by the builder “ROCHESTER GAUGES International”. About electrical data please
refer to the specific documentation.
(Vmax 40VDC, Imax 20mA.)

TRANSMITTER ELECTRICAL WIRING :

In order to realize correct wiring this documentation should be compared with the one that has been
supplied with the receiver. As a standard our transmitters are supplied with a shielded cable of 2m
long Li-YCY type with the required wire quantity and appropriate size (0.75mm²). The transmitter
connection to the receiver has to be done with the same cable type by means of an explosion proof
junction box (not supplied). The cable shield is wired to the technical box. The white wire is the
positive one. The brown wire is the GND one (different of the electrical earth), the other wires are the
signal wires (refer to the specific documentation).

EARTH WIRING :
In general the electrical devices have to be wired to a local electrical earth. The technical boxes for
Magnetel gauges (with oval cover) are supplied with an earth screw spotted with the traditional
marker. The technical boxes for 729* are supplied with a yellow/green (only with a 4 inch dial) cable
fixed to a special screw. This screw or wire must be connected to the global electrical earth of the
installation before transmitter powering .
