CHAPTER V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Summary
This qualitative study aimed to explore how music helps students relax and identify the factors that
influence its effectiveness. The participants of the study were selected Grade 11 TVL of SAN ISIDRO
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL students who shared their experiences and insights regarding the role of music
in managing stress and promoting relaxation.
Based on the responses gathered, three major themes emerged in relation to how music helps
students relax: (1) Emotional Relief, (2) Mental Calmness and Focus, and (3) Stress Reduction. The
findings revealed that students use music as a coping mechanism during stressful academic situations
such as examinations, deadlines, and heavy workloads. Many participants expressed that listening to
music improves their mood, reduces anxiety, and creates a peaceful mental state.
Furthermore, the study identified two key factors that influence how music helps students relax: (1)
Type of Music and (2) Personal Preference and Mood. Students emphasized that soft, instrumental,
classical, or slow-tempo music is more effective in promoting relaxation. However, the effectiveness of
music varies depending on the listener’s emotional condition and individual preference.
Overall, the findings suggest that music plays a significant role in helping students manage stress and
maintain emotional balance.
