CONSUMER RIGHTS

Consumer rights are the rights given to consumers to protect them from unfair trade practices.
These rights help consumers get safe products and better services. Every consumer should know
about these rights.

The Six Main Consumer Rights


1. Right to Safety – Consumers have the right to be protected against harmful goods and services.
2. Right to Information – Consumers have the right to know the quality, quantity, price and expiry
date of a product.
3. Right to Choose – Consumers can choose products and services according to their needs and
preferences.
4. Right to be Heard – Consumers have the right to raise their complaints and suggestions.
5. Right to Seek Redressal – Consumers can get compensation for defective goods and poor
services.
6. Right to Consumer Education – Consumers have the right to learn about their rights and
responsibilities.

Responsibilities of Consumers
• Always ask for a bill or cash memo.
• Check the expiry date before buying products.
• Read labels and instructions carefully.
• Buy quality-certified products.
• Be aware of your rights.
• File complaints when necessary.

Consumer rights are very important because they protect people from cheating and exploitation. An
