Owner’s Manual
Vocal Rack is a plug-in multi-effect specifically designed to process mono vocal recordings. It features a
high-pass filter, compressor, three-band parametric equalizer and even a simple delay—all in one program.
Each effect in the program has an on/off switch, letting you choose only the processing you want (and
decrease the processing burden on your CPU, if needed).

Controls and Parameters
1 HPF Freq control (High-pass filter cutoff frequency)
This filter allows high frequency signals to pass through, while blocking signals of all other frequency ranges.
Change the value by dragging the dial or by using the scroll up/down buttons at the right of the value.
2 Phase
Click the [INVERT] button top reverse the phase of the input signal.
3 Compressor
The Compressor is an effect that compresses or squeezes the dynamic range of a signal, making soft parts
louder and loud parts softer. You can change the values by dragging the respective sliders or by using the
scroll up/down buttons at the right of the value.
GR (Gain Reduction meter) .... Displays the signal level as compressed by the Compressor.
Threshold ................................. Determines the level at which the Compressor takes effect.
Ratio ......................................... Determines the ratio of compression, or how much the dynamic range is
compressed.
Attack........................................ Determines the amount of time before compression is applied to the signal.
Release ..................................... Determines the amount of time before the compression effect is released
(sound returns to normal).
Out Gain ................................... Determines the output level of the compressed signal. When the [AUTO]
button is turned on, the output level is set automatically.
4 Harmonic Enhancer
This is a special effect that boosts the overtone elements (harmonics) in the audio signal.

5 EQ (Equalizer)
This is a versatile three-band parametric equalizer (low, mid, and high), allowing you to adjust the level of
each frequency band as well as the central frequency for adjustment. You can also set the frequency and
gain for each band by “grabbing” the line in the window and dragging as desired.
Freq (Frequency) ..................... Determines the central frequency that is boosted or cut.
Gain .......................................... Determines the signal level of the specified frequency.
Q (Bandwidth) .......................... Determines the bandwidth, or the range of frequencies covered by EQ
processing. The lower the value, the greater the range (around the central
frequency); the larger the value, the narrower the frequency range.
6 DeEsser
This convenient type of compression effectively cuts out a specific frequency range. As its name suggests, it
is used to suppress sibilants (the hissing sounds made when pronouncing words starting or ending with “s” or
“sh”).
Detect Freq (Detection Frequency)......... Determines the particular frequency to be cut or suppressed.
Threshold ................................. Determines the level at which the DeEsser takes effect. Signals at the
specified frequency (Detect Freq) are cut when they reach or go beyond this
level.
GR (Gain Reduction meter) .... Displays the signal level as reduced by the effect.
[MONITOR] button ................... Allows you to hear the frequency elements cut or suppressed by the effect.
7 Gate (Noise Gate)
This effect cuts lower level sounds (such as noise) from the audio signal. The gate blocks sounds that are
softer than a certain level and passes only sounds that are above the level. This can be used to eliminate
extraneous noise (such as loud inhaling or lip noises) from a vocal track.
Threshold ................................. Determines the level at which the Noise Gate opens (the softest sound that
will open the gate).
Attack........................................ Determines how quickly the Noise Gate opens after the input level has
reached the Threshold point.
Release ..................................... Determines how quickly the Noise Gate closes after the input level has gone
below the Threshold point.

8 Delay
This is a simple delay effect, for adding a slap echo or other effects to a vocal track.
Delay ......................................... Determines the delay time.
Mix ............................................ Determines the balance between the original signal and the delayed repeat.
