Holiday Homework – Mathematics
(Class 9)
Chapters: Coordinate Geometry & Polynomials
Instructions:
1. Complete all questions neatly in your notebook.
2. Show all steps clearly.
3. Attempt the activity and project work creatively.
Section A: Coordinate Geometry
1. Plot the following points on a graph paper: A(2,3), B(-4,2), C(-3,-5), D(4,-2). Identify the
quadrant of each point.
2. Find the distance between the points (2,3) and (5,7).
3. Find the midpoint of the line segment joining (4,6) and (8,10).
4. Find triangle area whose vertex are (1,2), (3,6), and (5,10)
5. Plot a triangle with vertices (1,2), (4,6), and (6,3) and find its area.
Section B: Polynomials
1. Identify the degree of the following polynomials:
(a) 3x² + 2x + 1
(b) 5x⁴ - x² + 7
(c) 9
2. Find the value of the polynomial 2x³ - 3x² + x - 5 when x = 2.
3. Verify the identity: (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b².
4. Factorize: x² - 5x + 6.
5. Find the zeros of the polynomial x² - 9.
Section C: Activity / Project Work
1. Draw a coordinate plane and mark at least 10 real-life locations (imaginary map).
2. Create a chart showing different types of polynomials with examples.
3. Write a short note on the importance of coordinate geometry in real life.
