Dear Members of the Scholarship Committee,

I saw your advertisement for a scholarship to study abroad. I am writing this letter to
express my interest in it.
I am a hard-working student. I have a strong academic background in science and Math.
Last year, I won a prize in a local Math competition. That is one of the biggest
achievements in my studies.
I am a suitable candidate because I am very active. I love learning new things and I also
enjoy helping people. Therefore, I often join volunteer clubs at my school.
In the future, I want to become a good Math teacher to help children. Studying abroad at
your prestigious university is the best choice for me to achieve my goals.
Thank you for reading and considering my application.
Sincerely,
A Student
2. You recently stayed at a hotel and experienced several problems during your visit.

wrong, explain how it affected your stay, and suggest what the hotel should do to
resolve the situation. Write at least 120 words. Do not include your name or your
address.
Dear Hotel Manager,
I am writing this letter to complain about several problems during my stay at your hotel.
First, the receptionist was not friendly. She was angry with me when I talked about the
problems in my room. Second, the water was too cold, so I could not even take a shower.
Furthermore, the food tasted bad, and the next room was very noisy, so I could not sleep
well at night.
These issues completely ruined my holiday. I felt very tired and disappointed.
I know your hotel is a quality hotel with good service, so I would be very happy if you
could give me a refund and an apology letter.
Thank you for reading and considering my issues.
Sincerely,
A Guest

Dear Host Family,

I am writing this email to say thank you for staying with you when I studied abroad in
Australia. I have arrived home safely, but I miss you a lot.
I really loved many things about my stay. First, you were very friendly and kind. You
always helped me practice English every day. Second, the food you cooked was very
delicious. I especially loved the barbecues in the backyard on weekends. You made me
feel like I was at my own home.
I remember that you want to visit my country this summer. I would love to host you at my
house. I can take you to many beautiful places in my hometown.
Thank you again for everything. Please write to me soon.

5. You are staying in Britain and have recently been to a local art exhibition. You enjoyed
the exhibition but you have some suggestions to make so that the next one will be
better organised. Read the advertisement for the exhibition and the notes you have
made beside it. Then write a letter to the organiser, giving your opinion of this year's
exhibition and making your suggestions for next year.
Dear oganized,
I really like your local art exhibiton, but I want it to be better organised next year. I am
wriiting this letter to give my opinion of this year’s exhibition.
First, the title “Annual Exhibition” is very good, it makes people are look forward to it.
Second, the advertisement says “there are over 250 excellent works of art”, but I think not
all of them were excellent. However, there were some lovely paintings. It was brilliant
that everything was for sale, and I bought a beautiful picture for my room.
On the other hand, choosing the Town Hall was a bad choice because it was too small and
crowded. Also, the ticket price of £3.00 was too much. If the ticket is free next year, more
people will come.
Thank you for reading my letter.
Sincerely,
A visitor
