Preparation of Tooth Paste
Toothpaste is defined as a semi-solid Material that is designed for removing naturally
occurring deposits from teeth and is to be used simultaneously with a toothbrush and good
technique. In addition, it can remove stains caused by the food and drinks that are consumed
and prevents bad breath from the oral cavity. Toothpaste has various uses, such as freshening
the breath, helping to prevent oral problems etc.
Apparatus:
Beaker
Stirrer
Ingredients Required:
Baking soda (NaHCO3)
Essential oil
Water
Coconut oil
Procedure:
There are two ways to make home-made toothpaste.
1. Toothpaste with baking soda and water
1. Take one teaspoon baking soda
2. Add one drop of an essential oil(s)
3. Add a few drops of water
2. Toothpaste with baking soda and coconut oil
4. Add two tablespoon baking soda
5. Add two tablespoon of coconut oil (carrier oil)
6. Then add ten drops of essential oil
7. Mix all the ingredients well to get a smooth texture.
This preparation forms basic toothpaste; however, to prepare whitening toothpaste, whitening
ingredients (e.g. turmeric) must be added in minute proportions.
Result:
Tooth paste is ready to use. Place it in an air tight container.
