Topic: Data Collection, Sampling Techniques, and Graph


Construction Using Microsoft Excel

G – Goal
Your goal is to collect real-life data, apply an appropriate sampling
technique, organize the data in a frequency table, and present your
findings using graphs created in Microsoft Excel.

R – Role
You are a Junior Data Analyst who asked to gather reliable information
from your school community and present it visually for decision-
making.

A – Audience
Your audience will be your math teacher, classmates, and a panel
acting as the School Research Committee.

S – Situation
The School Research Office wants to know more about students' habits
and preferences. They need accurate and well-presented data to help
improve school programs. You must gather information using a proper
sampling technique (random, systematic, stratified, or convenience
sampling), then organize and present your collected data using Excel
tables and graphs.

Choose one topic:


1. Most preferred school subject
2. Average time spent on gadgets per day
3. Favorite school snack or drink
4. Travel time from home to school
5. Number of books read per month

P – Product / Performance
You will produce the following:

1. Data Collection Plan (1 page)


- Statement of the problem
- Sampling technique used (with justification)
- Description of respondents
- Data collection method

2. Raw Data Table (at least 20 respondents)


3. Frequency Table (organized in Excel)
4. Graphs Created in Microsoft Excel (Bar graph AND Pie/Line graph)
5. Written Interpretation (5–7 sentences)
6. Reflection (1 paragraph)
