Definition
DEFINITION
The present continuous (present progressive) tense is a way to convey any
action or condition that is happening right now, frequently, and may be
ongoing. It adds energy and action to writing, and its effect helps readers
understand when the action is happening.
FORM
This verb tense helps describe activities in progress, temporary situations,
and near-future plans. It is easily recognized because it uses the verb "to
be" followed by another verb ending in -ing.
EXAMPLES
Structure
To form the present continuous in its affirmative, negative and interrogative
form, follow this formula:
Subject + to be (am, is, are) + base verb + ing.
