SUBJECT – SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Time : 3 Hrs. M.M – 80
General Instructions:
(i)The question paper comprises five sections-A,B,C,D and [Link] are 39 questions in the question [Link]
questions are compulsory.

(ii) There will be no overall choice in the question paper , but there will be an internal choice in 1 question of
Section - B , 1question of Section C and 3 questions of Section D .Each case study question in Section E
contain 5 very short answer type questions (VSA) of 1 mark each, out of which only 4 are to be attempted.
(iii) Section A consists of 20 objective type questions (Q. No. 1 to 20) , carrying 1 mark [Link] questions
are MCQ and Assertion-Reason questions.
(iv) Section B consists of 6 very short answer type questions (Q. No. 21 to 26 ), carrying 2 marks each.
(v) Section C consists of 7 short answer type questions (Q. No. 27 to 33 ), carrying 3 marks each.
(vi) Section D (Q. No.34 to 36 ) consists of 3 long answer type questions carrying 5 marks each.
(vii) Section E (Q. No.37 to 39 ) consists of 3 source based/ case based questions carrying 4 marks each with
sub-parts.

36. An electric bell is based on the principle of electromagnetism. It consists of an electromagnet, armature,
spring, hammer, and a gong. When the switch is pressed, current flows and the armature is attracted towards the
electromagnet. This movement makes the hammer strike the gong and at the same time breaks the circuit. The
cycle repeats very quickly and the bell rings continuously as long as the switch is pressed.
