Unit 6 – Emotions (Basic 3)

Subject: A really happy moment

Hi Mai,

I want to share with you a time when I felt extremely happy – the day I
found out I passed the university entrance exam.

It happened last August. The results were posted on the university’s

website. I remember sitting in front of my computer, my hands shaking as
I typed my exam number. Then the page loaded, and I saw the word
"PASSED".

I felt a huge wave of joy and relief. I screamed and ran to tell my parents.
After that, we went out for a big meal to celebrate. That day ended with
me feeling proud and excited about my future.

I’ll never forget that moment when I saw the result on the school’s
website.

Best regards ,
Dong

2. Unit 10 – Knowing a second language (Basic 3)

Subject: Learning English

Hi John,

Thanks for your email about learning a second language. Right now, I am
learning English.

I think English has many benefits. First, it helps me communicate with

people from different countries. Second, I can read international news and
watch movies without subtitles. Third, it gives me more job opportunities
in the future.

One effective method to learn English is to practice speaking every day

with friends or through language apps. Watching English videos and
listening to music also help a lot.

I hope you try learning a new language too.

Best regards,
Dong

3. Unit 1 – Education (Intermediate 1)

Subject: What should children learn at kindergarten?

Dear Principal ,

I am writing to share my thoughts about what my child should learn at

your kindergarten.

In my opinion, formal education is not really suitable for preschool

children. At this age, they learn better through play and hands-on
activities. Formal lessons might make them feel stressed and lose interest
in learning.

The benefits of a play-based approach include creativity, social skills, and

curiosity. Drawbacks of formal education could be pressure and less time
for physical activities.

I expect my child to learn how to share, follow simple rules, recognize

letters and numbers naturally, and develop confidence. I hope your
kindergarten focuses on these areas.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Dong

4. Unit 2 – Away from home (Intermediate 1)

Subject: My first semester at university

Dear Mom and Dad,

I hope you are both doing well. I want to tell you about my life during my
first semester at university.

I have completed three courses: Advanced Mathematics, Introduction

to Multimedia, and Basic Computer Science 1. Advanced Mathematics
is difficult but very interesting. Introduction to Multimedia is the subject I
enjoy the most because I learn how to create images, edit videos, and
design simple graphics. Basic Computer Science 1 helps me understand
programming fundamentals and how to use computers effectively.

What I enjoy most about university life is the freedom to manage my own
time and the chance to make new friends from different places.

The biggest challenge I have faced is balancing my study time, especially

with Advanced Mathematics, which requires a lot of practice. Sometimes I
feel tired, but I am learning to be more organized.
Overall, I am happy and growing more independent. I miss you both very
much.

Love,
An

5. Unit 3 – Celebration (Intermediate 1)

Subject: A special celebration in Vietnam

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for asking about cultural celebrations in Vietnam. I would like to

tell you about the Lunar New Year, called Tết.

Tết usually happens in late January or early February. Before Tết, people
clean and decorate their houses. During Tết, we visit our relatives, give
lucky money to children, and eat traditional foods like bánh chưng.

I like Tết because everyone is happy and families gather together. It is a

time for new beginnings and good wishes. I hope you can experience Tết
in Vietnam one day.

Write soon!

Best,
Hoa

6. Unit 5 – Arts and Entertainment (Intermediate 1)

Subject: Invitation to an exhibition

Hi Tom,

I am going to visit an art exhibition this Saturday, and I think you would
really enjoy it. Let me invite you to come with me.

The exhibition is called “Colors of Vietnam”. It shows paintings by young

Vietnamese artists about city life and nature. It takes place at the City Art
Center, from 9 AM to 6 PM.

I know you love modern art, so I believe you will enjoy the colorful style
and creative ideas. We can go together in the morning, spend about two
hours there, and then have lunch nearby. Please let me know if you are
free on Saturday.

Looking forward to your reply!

Cheers,
Minh

7. Unit 6 – At work (Intermediate 1)

Subject: Application for Marketing Assistant position

Dear Manager,

I am writing to apply for the Junior Content Assistant position at your

company.

I have just graduated from university with a degree in Multimedia

Technology. Although I do not have full-time work experience yet, I have
completed several internships at small companies. For example, I interned
at a local media startup where I helped write social media posts and edit
short videos. At another small company, I supported the team with basic
design tasks using Canva and Photoshop.

Through these internships, I learned to work under pressure, meet

deadlines, and cooperate with colleagues. I am a fast learner, responsible,
and eager to grow.

I want to work for your company because I admire your creative projects
and wish to develop my skills further. I believe my internship experience,
though in small companies, has prepared me well for this role.

Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,
Minh

8. Unit 8 – Sending a package (Intermediate 1)

Subject: Package delivery inquiry

Dear Delivery Service,

I am writing to ask about sending a package to my friend in Hanoi.

The package is a rectangular box measuring 30cm x 20cm x 15cm. It

weighs about 2.5 kilograms. Inside, there are clothes, a book, and a small
ceramic cup.

I would like to send it to Hanoi, and I prefer delivery within 2–3 days. Could
you please tell me the cost? Also, do you have fragile handling because of
the ceramic cup? What delivery options are available (standard or
express)?
Thank you for your help. I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
Thanh

9. Unit 9 – Banking (Intermediate 1)

Subject: Problem with my account

Dear Sir or Madam,

This letter is to formally report an issue regarding the inability to withdraw

cash from multiple Vietinbank ATMs using my valid Vietinbank ATM card.

The reason I write this letter is that on June 12, 2026, I tried to withdraw
cash from a Vietinbank ATM located in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City, but the
transaction was unsuccessful. After correctly entering my PIN and
selecting the desired withdrawal amount, the machine displayed an error
message stating "Transaction failed" or "Unable to process request". No
cash was dispensed, and my account balance remained unchanged (I
checked on the mobile banking app).

My card shows no visible damage and has not passed its expiration date.
To ensure security, I have temporarily locked the card through the mobile
banking application.

I respectfully request that Vietinbank conduct a thorough check of both

the card status and the ATM network logs to identify any technical
malfunction or account restriction. Should a card replacement be
necessary, please advise me on the appropriate procedure.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope to receive a
solution to this problem.

Sincerely,

Ho Tan Dong

10. Unit 10 – Gadgets (Intermediate 1)

Subject: A helpful app for your study

Hi john. How are you?

I saw that you are having a hard time finding sources for your research
papers. And citations are giving you a lot of mess too, right? I can feel it
because I used to be like you, seriously. But now I have a solution for this
problem that is good not only for me but also for you and every student
studying at college and university.

What I said is Google Scholar. Have you tried it? It is really helpful.

Okay, so here's the answer – it works like Google, but only for academic
things. You can find journals, peer-reviewed articles, conference papers,
theses, and even court cases. No random blogs or clickbait. Just real
sources that you can use in your papers.

And the best part? There is a "Cite" button under every result. You click it
once, and boom – the citation appears in APA, MLA, Chicago, or other
styles. Whatever your professor wants. You don't have to type anything by
yourself anymore. Just so quick!

You can also save papers to your own library. You can also get email alerts
when new research comes out. And you can see how many times a paper
has been cited by others – that helps you know if it is trustworthy.

Is it perfect? No. But it is free and very easy. Just go

to [Link], type some keywords, and start exploring. Spend
about 15 minutes trying the filters, and you will become good at it. And
trust me, knowing how to use this will give you a good tool for your study
road in school.

I hope to hear your feedback soon .

Best wishes ,

Ho Tan Dong
