1st Reading Rom 7:18-25a
Brothers and sisters:
I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh.
The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not.
For I do not do the good I want,
but I do the evil I do not want.
Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it,
but sin that dwells in me.
So, then, I discover the principle
that when I want to do right, evil is at hand.
For I take delight in the law of God, in my inner self,
but I see in my members another principle
at war with the law of my mind,
taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my
members.
Miserable one that I am!
Who will deliver me from this mortal body?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayers of the Faithful
Presider: Brothers and sisters, let us ask for God’s
continued blessings especially for our
graduates so that we may proclaim the Spirit
of Christ to others in establishing a world of
peace, truth and justice. Jesus taught us that
when we pray in His name, God our Father will
respond. The response to our petitions is
“Fill us with your wisdom, Lord.”
1. For the Church, that the desire of its youth to see the Gospel message
take hold in our world might help renew the faith of God’s people
everywhere. Let us pray to the Lord.
2. For young people throughout the world. That their search for knowledge
and truth through study, prayer and work will help bring about the truth
and peace of God’s Kingdom. Let us pray to the Lord.
3. For parents, the first teachers of their children: may they continue to
shepherd their children with compassion and respect for life. Let us pray to
the Lord.
4. For the PWC Community, its administrative staff, members of the faculty
and personnel that they may continue to train and guide their students into
well-formed individuals and God-fearing men and women. Let us pray to the
Lord.
5. In silence let us pray our personal intentions (pause). Let us pray to the
Lord.
Presider: Father, look upon us, your children, who call
upon
you in love. Help us to be faithful to your Son, Jesus.
Come to
our aid for without you we can do nothing. We ask this
through
Christ, our Lord.
